Panel Prep Dilemma

I'm currently running the panel prep on the P50ST30. My son will be home on Christmas and we'd like to watch the Knicks/Celtics game at noon on Christmas Day. The panel prep will be at 90 hours at game time. Not sure what to do. Please vote in the poll to help me decide what's best.

It depends - exactly why are you performing a Panel Prep?

And what kind of Panel Prep procedure are you doing?

Randy - When I grow up I want to be you..... BUT there is not any reasonable answer that the OP could give that would preclude them from watching the Game.

Watch it and enjoy! I would (and have) watched sporting events right out of the box (I have 4 panny pdps) and the sun still came up the next day!

I'n getting mt 50GT30 delivered today and plan to watch hockey and play games tonight. I've never broken-in a plasma tv and have never had any issues. Lets face it, 95%+ of people who buy a plasma don't break it in.

Probably true, but the OP has specifically gone through the trouble to "prep" his panel for dozens of hours so far so he's not in our 95% bracket

If the OP is doing the D-Nice Prep/Reference Settings procedure for instance then punting at the 90 hour mark to watch anything will skew the results he had hoped to attain.

I agree.

I broke in my first plasma four years ago. I have never had a problem with that set.

I got my new P50GT30 last Saturday and have been watching tv and playing video games since I put it up on the stand. Great set, no issues and none are anticipated.

lol dude. Watching a game for 3-4 hours wont destroy your prep or mess D Nice settings up. It would be so miniscule to even see any variation from d -nice's for 4 hours of a game.

dude. Just use your TV bro. I run D Nice slides on my samsung every night for 4 hours just to help age the phosphors and color uniformity and I game/watch tV for 5-8 hours straight on my vacation.

It wont hurt it al all. lol Enjoy your TV

Thanks everyone for the votes and comments.

I'm sorry I wasn't more specific, but you guessed it, I'm running Evangelo2's slides and D-Nice's settings. It seemed that plenty of people have used this combination and were happy with the results.

Most likely, I'll watch the game and be happy with the 90 hours of prep. It was helpful to see that others agreed that this wouldn't make a big difference versus what I'd see at 100 hours.

I posted the poll partly because other people found this site after watching TV for a few days, then asked if it made sense to start a panel prep. The consensus was that, no, don't waste your time if you've already logged in a few days of viewing.

I realize my results will be slightly less than optimal, but that's OK, because watching the game with my son on the new set is more important than perfection, but if waiting would make a big difference, we could watch the game on our 4 year old plasma.

I hope this helps explain why I posted the poll and I really appreciate the comments.
