1080p upscaling in digital media players

you can use testcards and test sequences available on Video Essentials,
Spears& Munsil and other Reference Discs to see the difference.
The Video Processors sometimes do a better job in difficult interlaced
Video like Film (24P) mixed with Video titles or some other video materials
(Sports with on Screen Overlays) . if you only watch Movies with 23.976fps
or 24.000fps , the different media player chips do a good job.
I also use a Media Player (PCH C-200) with a Crystalio II and a Radiance XS+3D. in some cases, I prefer the Crystalio II (especially for SD sources)
and the Radiance for HD 72/75Hz tripling the org. 24/25fps framerate.

There's a great Japanese Reference Disc put out by the Plasma Supporters
that really show the shortcomings of most chips and processors.

There a Guy in Germany (Burosch) that offers the most difficult test patterns that are on the planet.
He created Test Patterns for the PAL systems since the B&W times.
I know him personally. He creates the best Test Material for any Display type.
His Expo Demos are legendary here in Europe

He proved that even 2 consecutive LCD panels don't look the same side by side.
