Question about HTIB

Hello,

I have never had a home theatre before and I am totally new to the av field. I'm here to request some kind advice.

I have a tight budget(~$500). And for the same reason I wanted to go for a HTIB option (something like Sony BDV-E780W). And then I researched a couple of other options. Finally, I ended up with:

Energy 5.1 Take Classic (~400 - I selected these speakers coz of the price and excellent reviews)
Onkyo TX-SR309 5.1(~185 - Selected coz of again price, decent reviews and 3d pass thru)

I am going to buy a 3d tv (47LW5600), and the above av receiver was the cheapest I could find with 3d pass thru and decent reviews.

So, here are my questions:

1) For my budget, should I still go for an HTIB option or should I go for something like Energy+Onkyo? (In terms of features for money? - Sony has wireless rear speakers)

2) Please let me know your feedback on the combination of speakers/av I have picked? My main source will be blue ray player and ps3/xbox. I won't be watching much tv programming as I am not from here.

Thank you.

Get this receiver instead. Much better than the SR309 and on sale for $199.

It has Audyssey room calibration plus networking for streaming Pandora and internet radio. For $14 extra it would be tough to beat.

I don't know how long the sale last but at least thru today.

@afrogt: Thank you for the response. I definitely feel 509 is a better choice.
Any words of wisdom on the speakers? Can you recommend a cheaper set delivering same quality if not better?(~$300)

Polk RM 6750 for $199.

Boston CS2310B for $199

Take your pick.

If you have a Fry's Electronics close by, look at the Onkyo/Jamo combo on this page for $397.

It is the same Onkyo NR509 receiver that I linked earlier with a Jamo 5.1 speaker system.

Thank you so much again for taking the time. The nearest Fry's is 3 hours away but I am totally ready to drive if it's really worth it. I just saw those speakers on amazon. They only had 2 reviews vs 180 for Energy. Again, since I have no clue of these systems(or av on the whole), I am just relying on the reviews. And looking at the Jamo reviews I was a bit concerned. Do they deliver the same quality as Energy?
