LG Official Announces 55" OLED for CES- - Page 18

LG has a 4k 84" OLED panel ready to release this year? I didn't even think they had a factory with facilities to procure glass that size as of yet.

I don't think he meant to imply that the 84" panel was OLED...he only specified that the 55" one was.

Thing is, this doesn't feel entirely implausible.

Might be, but surely it will be then dwarfed by those bargain 1XX"+ X-G LCDs everywhere and considered much too small and expensive to buy by serious videophiles .

I didn't say it was an OLED, I was just giving extra info about the 84@ 4K price...

The 84" 4K LED in the US has been list at $9999 for at least a month or two and showing an august release date IIRC. Ive mentioned it before (perhaps on another forum), but it must've been overlooked. Edit: probably because i noted that the price has been removed from our system.

WOW, $3000 difference, and the Dollar is currently at par! I guess there will be few of the 84" buyers heading south of the border when it becomes available.
Then to, LG Canada either it gets the price it wants to sell it for, or they don't bring it into the country! Case in point, 55LHX was $5000 in Canada - never been available here - consequently bought 2 from the US - first for about $3600, the second for about $2469. (Including exchange, customs and shipping) At least we're starting to see Black Fridays now in November to match the US side.

I don't know if that price is (can.) msrp or just a bumped store price... but it was $12999.99 can. on that sheet of paper I saw. Wayyy too much for my wallet!
Ya, like i said though it's slated for around an august release so i think any pricing right now is just estimation and again, the $9999 price originally listed in my system has been removed and replaced w/ TBD, so it very well could be $12999 or even $7999 for all i know now.

Please stop hijacking the LG OLED thread to discuss the possible prices of some LED panels. That belongs on either the LCD forum or on a new thread on this forum. Thanks.

Why must it be in greek?

At least it is more convincing than a press conference by Sammy.

From Google Translate: "A box of pure temptation..."

They got that right.

The demo material on that video is the same shown at CES. It was really posterized there and didn't look amazing. I don't know when the video you linked was shot, but it doesn't look better.

Honestly, I doubt it's representative of the final shipping product (and certainly hope it isn't).

Can't get enough of it. Thanks for posting ALMA

Great, a product that has finally shipped. GO LG GO.
Interesting if it is true that they will have a 21:9 model too.

Do we know this is from a shipment? Seems like a demo/review sample.

But either way, I like that it's in a box.

well they previously announced a may release date in europe.

the video apparently is the same from ces.

they've shown us a box.

not sure if this counts as a product release yet.

I'm agree -looks like pre-official shipment -no weight, certification marks etc. But it's definitely enough evidence - real-life OLED TV's are COMING! Don't you guys think it's time to separate that tech from bland "Flat Panel General & New FP Tech" to more substantial and concrete specific, newly created area " OLED / OEL Flat Panel Displays " and " OLED / OEL Flat Panel Great Found Deals! " Who's with me!?

I think LG showed the television in Korea. Here is better quality video but the source material looks like it is the same as CES.
