Final Dest 5

Thread Starter
Comes out today at BB. Is the 3d worth a purchase? Has anyone seen it?
Saw it in a theater and it has good 3D and story. The bridge collaspe is well worth it. That makes two good ones in a row for the FD 3D films. I'm going to pick this up at the BB on N. Michigan Ave in Chicago today at lunch time.

Watched it today.3D effects were good in depth and also objects came out the screen entire the movie.I think it is better for 3D effect more than Fright Night.

The opening credit sequence alone is enough to justify the price tag of $24.99. The rest is just a gorious bonus!
I agree, the opening has really good popout. Also the bridge collapsing is great.

Thx guys! On my way to futureshop to get this one... 34,99 vs 39,99 at best buy... Geez 3D blu rays are expensive in Canada! :-(
post #7 of 44
Just got in after picking up our copy. Will watch tonight!
Really enjoyed this one...the 3D effects were great!
Sounds great. Thx guys. As soon as I find this for under $30 in Canada I'm picking it up.
It is 24.99 at best buy right now, i just bought a copy of it.

One of the best live-action 3D so far, lot's of depth and pop-outs, and good CG's. Audio is reference material IMO. Story?...predictable, good for a movie-night.

What a joke. The 2D blu-ray is currently 19.99 at Futureshop - 3D is 34.99 (plus 13% HST). Yet I can go to eBay and buy the 3D disc for 20 bucks plus $5-6 shipping (which I'll probably do).

25 bucks is about my threshold for buying new movies and with the good reviews it's getting here I just might have to pick up a copy.

Pulled the trigger. Just picked this up on eBay for $26 (incl shipping) vs. $40 (incl taxes) at Future Shop. It was only the 3D version, but really why would I need the 2D blu-ray or DVD. Sure I could try and sell them on eBay to get back some of my cost, but too much trouble for me.

Really looking forward to watching this one. After all the glowing reviews on this thread I hope its not a disappointment.

I haven't seen FD 1-4, wondering if I should try and locate these somewhere for cheap and watch them first??

what a fun movie. This was def. my favorite of the series. great blood and guts, great deaths, great special effects and great 3D.

From a bluray 3D standpoint this is the best I've seen to date though I'll admit I've yet to see avatar at home. Like everyone's said the bridge scene was great. The Rebar was literally inches from my face.

If you have a 3D setup get this movie, you'll love it.

Final Destination 5 was awesome. Tons of pop!!! Great 3D movie for $24.

This has some great 3D effects, The Blood squirts and Glass shattering looked like they were popping out of the screen. This is my new Demo for 3D Bluray when showing off the TV. As for the movie it was the best since the first one, and the 3D was used very well throughout. Still waiting for Avatar to be released once the Panasonic deal is over in February. I just cant see paying more than $20-35 for any Bluray 3D title, and it's still going for $75-$125.

PS: Minor Spoiler for Johnny... This one is actually a prequel to the 1st move, which worked really well, and requires no prior knowledge of the events in the 1st 4 movies. The 1st and 2nd were actually pretty good, the 3rd and 4th were not.

I'm recording FD5 from the DirectV 3D ppv as we speak...has anyone else watched it on DTV? I'm hoping this is as much fun as you guys said it was!

Your PS needs spoiler tags.
Agree about the spoiler tag...I would have rather not known that going into the film since it wasn't presented that way.

That being said, this was probably the best 3D experience I've ever had.
Spoiler tag...? You're worried that someone ruined the masterpiece of a story that Final Destination 5 is? This isn't Inception guys...

So should we always just check with you to see if a movie is worthy of using spoiler tags?

No need. General rule of thumb is that if it's the 4th sequel in the franchise, it's not going to blow anybody's mind.
Watched it last night and i'm very disappointed in the picture quality. The 3D was great, but the contrast and color took too much of a hit in 3D. I watched some of the non-3D bluray that came separately and it was night and day from the the 3D version. I also have never seen a letterbox film cut so much of the movie. The black on top and bottom were almost 4 inches in apiece! that cut off 8 inches of my 51inch screen.

Ahhh, I see. Well, it's common courtesy to not post spoilers w/out spoiler alerts or hiding the text no matter what the material. It takes very little effort.
