Onkyo TX-SR307 connection help

Looking for help on the best possible connection. Having trouble getting all the pieces to play nice.

Right now I have:
1. cable box hdmi OUT going to receiver's IN
2. receiver hdmi OUT to plasma tv's IN
3. hddvd (lost that gamble!) going hdmi OUT to receiver's IN
4. hddvd optical OUT to receiver's IN
5. receiver digital coax OUT to tv's IN
5. wii component OUT to tv's IN

All works awesome (5.1 sound). But...

I got a blu-ray for xmas. Unhooked hdmi from hddvd and plugged into blu-ray. Get video, but no audio (307 is pass-thru only). So duh. But, problem is that blu-ray doesn't have optical out, all it has is coax out. I don't have another coax IN available on receiver. I still want great sound and picture.

I tried connecting the blu-ray to the tv via HDMI (has 2 ports) IN, but confused about audio. Would connecting coax OUT on blu-ray to tv's coax IN fix this mess? Or would there be quality loss (audio or video)? Or is there a better way to connect this so I can still go through the receiver? TV has oodles of ports (except optical). Receiver has 3 HDMI in/1 out, 2 optical, 1 coax out.

Looking at the back panel it has a rca-looking port with "Digital Audio In" written underneath. Will that work as I described?

I will also look at exchanging it if the answer is no, to the above.

The output on the bluray is a "Digital Out (Coaxial) Jack". Bluray player is this one:

I'm picking up another dig coax cable tonight and will let you know if going directly to the tv via hdmi works. I'm worried about losing the DTS/DD as well.

What's weird is that I can hook my laptop, which has 3D bluray, to my tv and the audio DTS carries through with just the hdmi. But if I hookup my sony bluray player with just the hdmi, no sound goes through. Just video. Odd.

I don't have the laptop and Sony BR plugged in at the same time. If I plug the laptop into the tv via hdmi and set the tv as a projector in my laptop's settings, I get full HD audio. If I then unplug the laptop and plug in the Sony BR player via hdmi (same port/cable that the laptop was running off of), I get picture, but no sound at all. In the Sony BR, the only settings for what they call "Audio (hdmi)" are "auto" and "pcm". So that confuses me. Thanks for the conversation, I really appreciate you sticking around...

SUCCESS!!! I connected the blu-ray hdmi to the tv, then the coax digital cable from blu-ray to tv and mapped the tv's digital-in setting to the hdmi source of the player. And...DTS does come through! Whew!

Although it's still freaky why I have to do this for the player, but not my laptop...this is fine.
