I'm trying to figure out specifically what additional hardware I will need to make this work.
My video card (EVGA GeForce GTX 260 core 216) has two DVI ports (as well as s-video I believe). I also use on-board audio (ASUS M4A87TD EVO). On the TV I only use the built-in speakers.
I would need to run cables ~35-40 ft (running on the ground along the edge of the wall).
So now come the stupid questions:
- Is DVI to HDMI (via an adapter) okay for running video to the TV?
- How would I run sound from the motherboard to a connection that the TV can accept?
- Seeing as that the video card is dual head, is there anything specific I need to do to be able to use the monitor when I want (ie: when I want to use the computer as a PC)?
My TV is an LG 32LD350. Here is a copy and paste of the available connections:
I doubt it matters all that much, but just in case: I run Ubuntu Linux as my default OS.
