Im an A/V newb, so I'll just lay out the facts, and hope someone can help.
I have a time Warner cable scientific Atlanta 8300 HDC cable box.
I recently bought an LG 42LV5500 LCD and I'm having audio problems.
The box and tv are connected via hdmi.
The issue is: I don't get sound through the tv when I power on the tv and cable. I can occasionally get it to work if I power both on and off a few times. When the sound isn't working, I can go into the tv options and perform the sound test and it works. The LG support team says I need to change the audio codec in the receiver, but I'm not sure if this is possible by me. It seems as if TWC has locked access to the boxes.
