I've been searching on forums like this and via Google for a small amp for a while but haven't found anything that meets my needs. The most similar threads I've seen here ask for small amps that power speakers and get input from something like an Apple TV (or another small device with digital output).
I have a nice LCD TV but don't want to use the built-in speakers. So, I have some basic speakers but no way to wire them in directly to my new TV (samsung LCD). My old TV actually was an older Sharp LCD and it had a whole separate box that actually had connectors for my speakers. That TV died and I haven't seen any new TV's with that type of connection. So, I can't rely on the TV itself to power the speakers (but wouldn't that be nice if possible).
Here's what I'm looking for:
* Small - around the size of an Apple Airport Extreme would be awesome, but could go a little bigger/taller/wider if needed.
* At least 2 HDMI ports and/or component
* At least stereo channel output (2 speakers), a plus being some sort of sub output or 5.1.
I have a Marantz NR1501 amp in another location and it's great - but I'd love to find something smaller and could definitely take a few less features or 5.1 support as a compromise.
