VP50pro Cooling Fans

Should the fans in the VP50 always be running or are they thermally controlled? I noticed with the cover off my VP50, they aren't running but are OK mechanically meaning they aren't seized.

I would hate to burn this thing up.

no, they are thermally controlled. On my 50Pro they're not running 99% of the time and (on my setup) usually start to spin up during standby only, not during actual usage.
