Just a quick update. Here are some pics of my RC-10s/RC-LCR purchase from vanns. I got them on clearance for a great deal.
Although they were on clearance, they looked totally new and packaged like they were new!
I ended up buying a set of take 5 classics from craigslist for real cheap to get the 5.1 surround and use it's subwoofer for now along with my RC set up. I'm thinking i should've put that money towards a better sub.
I've mixed feelings about my purchases. I may be in over my head with my set up. I've never had an audio system before and the Pioneer 1021 has so my options and buttons that i have no idea how to set it up correctly to get the best out of my speakers. I am also feeling a bit underwhelmed by the surround sound set up with the take classics. I'm kinda thinking i didn't really need to go that route and should've just focused on the 2.1 set up :|
It also took me a while to set things up because i didn't have stands to put the speakers up(finally found some on craigslist) and also didn't realize about banana plugs after i had gotten my wires ordered. Speaking of, the RC's have both a high and low input in the speaker... Does that mean i need two wires for each speaker? Is there enough inputs in the receiver for that? i didn't think i saw that. Ugg. I guess i really should be reading the manuals for all this new cool stuff. I was geeking out though on being able to control the sound with my ipad via Pioneer's airplay app. that was prettty darn cool.
I did try music with my non manual reading default set up and was blown away by the RC's sound. Like hearing music for the first time how it should be heard. Pretty mind blowing. Now if i can just get the correct set up for my movies.
I'm debating if i should sell the take 5 set to get a decent sub or maybe return the RC-LCR as i'm having trouble fitting it in my current lay out, but the speaker looks so darn good.
Sorry for the long post. I'll post more pics of the family room in it's current set up.
