I found these at the W6TRW swap meet (Northrup Grumman parking lot, SE corner of Marine Ave. and Aviation Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA. which is held mornings until about 11am on last Saturdays, so the next one will be January 28, 2012.
Advent is a respected speaker designer/maker and these are not the usual gutless plastic wonders. In fact the boxed set weighs over 32#. It claims 10+10 and 30 watt amplifiers. Based on the manufacturer's reputation and the weight, I tend to believe they mean honest RMS at low distortion. The speaker with controls has bass and trebel as well as volume controls. Plug these into the 3.5mm headphone jack of a portable CD player or radio and you have a perfectly good dorm or apartment stereo.
