Interpretations of his belief system and what might have motivated him to espouse those beliefs doesn't change the clear worldview shared in quotes like (from your reference):
Quote:
For while comets move in very eccentric orbs in all manner of positions, blind fate could never make all the planets move one and the same way in orbs concentric, some inconsiderable irregularities excepted which may have arisen from the mutual actions of comets and planets on one another, and which will be apt to increase, till this system wants a reformation.
Quote:
Tis inconceivable that inanimate brute matter should (without the mediation of something else which is not material) operate upon & affect other matter without mutual contact.
Quote:
This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent Being. [...] This Being governs all things, not as the soul of the world, but as Lord over all; and on account of his dominion he is wont to be called "Lord God" παντοκρατωρ [pantokratōr], or "Universal Ruler". [...] The Supreme God is a Being eternal, infinite, [and] absolutely perfect.[6]

Opposition to godliness is atheism in profession and idolatry in practice. Atheism is so senseless and odious to mankind that it never had many professors.

I know it's en vogue to whitewash the acknowledgement of God from history (and the present), but I'm frankly sick of it.

Sorry for taking the off-topic bait on this thread, folks.

Sorry for taking the off-topic bait on this thread, folks.

Please think about the value of these "acknowledgements" in the following context:

1. Newton states God is keeping the planets in regular orbits because otherwise he feels they would wander. (your first quote)

2. Laplace shows by more refined study in his Celestial Mechanics that Newton was wrong. Laplace's math is better. He shows no need for God to adjust the orbits of the planets.

3. Later on Laplace repeats to Napoleon that he does not need 'that hypothesis' in his Celestial Mechanics.

I am not going to say any more about this topic. You have the clues you need. Now it is up to you.

Welcome to AVSForum.

The BDP-93 is out of stock pending release of a new model later this year. No details yet available.

Last I looked you can get refurbished BDP-93 players from OPPO. A good deal: same 30-day return and 1-year warranty as new.

Interesting about the 93 now being "out of stock"

The few times I've seen this happen with OPPO in the past 5 years (including their older DVD players), every time there's been one or more new models show up fairly soon (month or two?)

If anything I expected it to happen with the 95 first, since it has an internal fan and the 93 doesn't.

Count me as *eager* to see a new OPPO blu-ray player released SOON!

I'll wait to see if any new features actually work in Canada, unlike the current players.

What features work in the US, but not in Canada?

I just received this e-mail from Oppo:

"There won't be any more brand-new BDP-93's.
We're anticipating a replacement model later this year, but we do not have a release date or any more details at this time.
There should be more information to share soon, so please stay tuned.

Best regards,"

Pandora and Filmfresh, whatever that is. Haven't tried the rest.

No more 93's... how about 95's?

^ New OPPO BDP-95 players are still in showing as in-stock on the OPPO Digital web site.

http://www.oppodigital.com/products.asp

At the moment, "refurb" BDP-93 players are also available direct from OPPO Digital (complete with a normal, new unit style, 1 year warranty, and at a slightly reduced price).

The following are official quotes from OPPO Digital INC regarding questions I asked them in a few emails:

Quotes

“We are completely out of new 93s. We have lots of BDP-95 stock, and not in any rush to sell it or anything."

“The price does not change with quantity ordered.”

“The refurb units are like new, with manuals and accessories and light signs of use. Warranty is the same as well, 1 year.”

"Hello,

1) Specs for the 93 replacement will be up within 2 weeks. The 95 replacement is still in the works, won't launch for several months, possibly into next year.

2) There will be a 93 replacement first, should be for sale in the month of OCT. The 95 replacement is still in being designed.

3) Full specs will be released in a couple of weeks on our website.

Best Regards,

Went out to dinner tonight which included seeing the Oppo BDP-103 and BDP-105. Haven't had time to post the details at our CEDIA blogs yet but I will soon. You'll see nice changes like HDMI/MHL inputs for video processing, 1080p Netflix with 5.1 audio, and a 105 with USB. Optical, and Coaxial inputs to use the DAC for audio. Time to write them up and post the really, really horrible pictures I have of them.

Great news. I'm helping a friend build a home theater.
Also wondering if it is time for me to update 83 with 103 or whatever it will be called.

Mike

ADDENDUM:
(bold added)
I swear I posted this before seeing 103/105 note above

So finally they listened. I remember asking for this feature when 95's showed up and couple of high profile fanboys here thought I was silly biggrin.gif

Now, they better include decent ipa(o)d control app too.

One of our writers that managed much better photos than I did (we didn't expect to see this at dinner, so cameraphones only) wrote up the new Oppo players in his blog entry for CEDIA:

http://cave.hometheaterhifi.com/profiles/blogs/2012-cedia-show-report-robert-kozel

The one thing missing that I can think of is that it has no fan in the 105 now, but it's a bit taller to allow for the better airflow to make this happen. Needless to say I can't wait for this to show up for testing soon.

Oh, and Netflix has the kids interface this time. Parents like myself rejoice!

Thank you, Chris. That was a nice quick report and pics. I'm loving the HDMI over fiber too. As for the 103, I'm happy to see Oppo continue to offer more, but I'm not seeing anything to make me run out to upgrade. I am curious as the the performance change/upgrade in the video chip. I look forward to some more indepth reviews of the 103/105.
Did everyone notice the digital inputs for the 105? Excellent.

Same ugly grey faceplate though frown.gif
post #86 of 94
Faceplate on the player is black. It shares the same coloring and styling as the BDP-95.
They better update the netflix interface for the 93 to match these new players. Oppo has been complaining that netflix just doesn't give them any attention for updates, and here they'll have a new player next month with all of the features that 93 owners have been asking for well over a year now.
Just because they are able to add it to the new player doesn't mean that they will be able to add it to the previous player. One of the reasons why Netflix is not allowing the current generation of players to upgrade the interface is due to security concerns. There is no built in hardware architecture to allow for encryption by Netflix, this is done through software. Netflix has been very strict on what players can upgrade to the 3.0 interface, and it is likely that we will not see the 3.0 interface on the BDP-9x series of players due to inherent hardware limitations.

I suppose your right. The finish on mine just makes it look lighter than my other components.
