Build a subwoofer into a raised HT platform?

I am looking for a sub for my 15x18 dedicated theatre and pretty much have settled on the Outlaw when it comes back on sale, hopefully soon, my target is $499 with free shipping. But, the wife was asking about in wall subs since all my other speaks are in wall. From what I have read, these dont perform as well but I am willing to listen to anyone's suggestions.

Now I am thinking, I have a 5x8 raised platformfor seating and I was wondering if it is possible to build a dual sub into the platform itself? I am handy but I have never built a sub.

Any thoughts?

Yes it is possible. One potential downside though is that the sub is then in a fixed location, so you'll have no opportunity to optimize placement.
