I watched the NCAA Championship game on the Z30000 last night. It was like having a 110 inch plasma. Great game! I'm a big U of O fan. At least the Ducks lost to the champs.
The Sharp really excels at HD sports. I'm looking forward to the Masters.
I have a bit of a quandry about the Sharp though. Perhaps someone can give me some insite into an issue that's developed.
For some reason, it won't always turn on. I hit the "On" button on the remote and nothing happens... I got out the ladder and climbed up up to the projector. I unplugged it and waited a minute, plugged it back in and it worked fine. I came back the next morning and the same thing. No response from the remote. Went back up, did the plug routine and it worked great...
So, I went into the Projector Menu and reset to factory settings. So far, it's been working fine with the remote since the reset.
Almost like there's a "ghost" in the machine. A search of the manual turned up nothing, and I couldn't find anything on the internet.
Any ideas out there?
Keeping my fingers crossed...
Well, Good news and Bad news...
We got the movie "The Adventures of Tin Tin" and watched it in 3D. The set up as "Stage" and it was sharp, bright and spectacular. Great 3D, pretty good movie.
We used the included Sharp glasses and Sony PS3 glasses. Both worked well.
The only 3D issue is the IR interference problem. I needed to control the Panasonic Bluray player, but it would not respond to the IR remote commands. Unless there is a way to use RF glasses in some way, this will be an ongoing issue. The 3D disc was rented and had a few stutters and freeze moments. Without being able to use the player's remote, it was disruptive to have to stop everything and go to the player (in another room) and skip through the problem area. We have a Panasonic plasma with Blutooth glasses. It makes it much easier to deal with any player issues.
The Bad news: The "ghost" turn on problem returned. When the Z30000 would not turn on with the remote, I had to get out the ladder and go up to the projector. When I got up to it, I could hear the fan running softly. (Note, the projector had not been used in 8 hours). I unplugged the power cord, then plugged it back in. Immediately, the Z30000 worked normally with the remote.
On Monday, I'll call Sharp Customer Service and see what to do. It's disappointing, but the 3 year warranty is reassuring.
I'm still hoping that I'm missing something or there is a way to address it without packing it up and shipping it off...
If anyone has ideas, i would appreciate hearing them. Edited by humbland - 4/13/13 at 7:43am
