Costco Home Theater Seats

Looks like they are also power recliners.
Am tempted to replace my 4 Berkliner manual recliners, for a bank of these... Hmm....??

I just saw these in my local Costco (Tigard, OR). I checked up on the manufacture and found this information about the construction:

It seems that these are made for each retailer so it will be difficult to determine the quality of this brand...

Do Berklines or Lane have wood frames?

my berklines have surprisingly fragile looking frames, some parts of it don't even appear to be wood, it's more like thick cardboard pressboard type material.

These look very nice. Hopefully they do not sell well though. I bought my Berkline/Costco seating from them three years ago. Had a very good price through the holidays and January. After the Superbowl they wanted to get rid of them and move in other product, so did a $300 rebate on the 3 pack and all product was gone in less than a week.

Aaron the strongest furniture frames are steel, you pay more for it though.

Exactly. I wouldn't trust a motorized chair with a wood frame. You can't examine the wood for cracks. Theater chairs get lots of use (and abuse), so steel frames for the peace of mind.

Ding!! good point for those buying, if you really want these, buy them and then if Costco give a $300 (or so rebate) make sure you come back for that


I was at the Michigan Costco Haggerty/14 mile yesterday during lunch, buying "stuff", saw this thread so for fun looked at these chairs while there.
(I don't need chairs, have my 2 rows already)

My impression of these:

They seemed decent and comfortable.
All 3 bolted together, which helped minimize some of the tipping fwd issue I've experienced with individual seats.

My concern is comfort/ergonomics of the movable armrest, it seems higher than std relative to where you sit, not sure if that is comfortable for long term sitting or not.

If I buy two sets I can take the center seat to make a 4 seat row and sell the two ends in this configuration. Any one in Houston interested?

Gee, I sat my butt in these a couple of weeks ago, an never thought posting em here...
Ive been looking at seating thru the last year at a number of furniture stores, outlets, even a few local "-lots" stores with seating, bumped into these at Costco, 4 the price I thought they were great! I went to quite a few alleged hi end furniture places (I did get on hands an knees an peeled bottoms open, I have no shame when I'm spending $) for theater-style seating and found they all had wood frames, kind of disappointing when theyre looking for $600+ for 1 seat just because it's all leather... Think I'm going back 2 Costco for a set, planned to get in there an shore up any potential weak spots b4 time, just in case...

Does each chair have it's own motor to operate independently????

Yes they each have their own motor, but share a power supply block.

I decided to go with Palliser Pepper models tonight. I really wanted the in arm storage and tray tables. Mine get delivered in the morning. Can't wait!

I fully agree with PTaaron. I went twice to the Houston Galleria store checking them out. I'm 6'3" and just could not get comfortable. When lounged out I expect my feet to dangle a bit but it as at the lower part of my calves. When I go look at the Headliner's or Magnolia's at Best Buy they seem to be a night a day difference in terms of comfort. Oh, the arms were fine for me but my wife would hate them, I'm sure of it.

Can't go wrong with the price but feel I can get something a bit better online (even without seeing them first).

Note that I am not that picky when it come to theater chairs and will probably only use them once or twice a week in my dedicated theater. If there were 900 I would consider it very very heavily but would have to talk myself into it.

lol, I was at Magnolia today playing w/ subs and sat in some Lane seating they had there... Quite comfy... as usual I peeked in the back and saw alot of steel reinforcement.. that made me feel better. Twice the price of the costco seating but I agree about the armrests (at costco yesterday) and you definitely get more bang for the buck with the Lanes, imo

I got the following seat arrangement


I had planned on only getting the center two in power, but inventory and pricing persuaded me to add one more in power. I love them! They have great storage in the arms and the stainless cup holders are big and look better than the plastic ones with chrome plastic on top as cheaper seats have. Let the fun begin!!

I checked them out at my local Costco and one of the seats back was broken off and the chair was pretty twisted up. It did not say great things to me about the reliability when the floor model was broken.
