Also, anyone who's living with their parents and not out on their own should not be laying down thousands of dollars on entertainment (a television in this case). Save your money and strike out on your own. I also feel that if you can't just write a check for something like this, you probably have no business parting with that much money. I'm not judging anyone, and this is an audio/video enthusiasts forum, but I wouldn't want to read about someone blowing all of their savings just to have more screen real estate. New alluring tech will always be available. Make sure your financial house is in order before you take a $4k+ plunge.

ok sure its just the internet sir moving on. I semi agree with your comment if you still live with momma then some of the right choices have not been made in life unless there is more to the story, maybe saving up for nice downpayment on a house or something i dont know but i would not take that 4k plunge for sure not being in my own apt or house. Also again CREDIT exsist for a reason sir, nothing wrong with buying and making payments on it long as you pay if off. I would put some money down. Some of us dont want to part with 4g at one sitting.

Since when did this become a financial advice column ... L O L ..
If the guy wants a 80" display then let him buy one , he just needs to get the best price .. better a HUGE display that snortin' 4K up his nose in drugs ..
..... L O L ...
GeeZ rolleyes.gif

If I had to live with my parents , then I'd want the escapism that 80" s of display envelopment would provide eek.gif

OK Rant over back to our regular PRICE discussions ............................................................................biggrin.gif

I don't think you need to explain this to him....He isn't your girlfriend, wife or mother ....I'm 54 and I wouldn't be running this stuff by you....It is your business ...

Thanks. Haha I'm only a college student but it can't hurt to just look around. Plus I live in Hawaii, its pretty expensive here. I don't plan on getting a house until I get my DPh nor an 80.

45 dollar shipping to east coast though, first one i ordered was missing the wall hooks, so they had to send me a label, must be a deal killer for them to ship back and forth a total of 3 times.

Haha, thanks! I was thinking the same thing.

Looks like the price for the 844 may have stabilized. Has anyone been able to get below ~$4500? Is the 8k release at the end of the year expected to affect the pricing of the 844?

Read a report of $4K for the 844 in the owners thread:
http://www.avsforum.com/t/1397134/official-sharp-aquos-lc-80le844u-owners-thread/1740
Spoke to a forum dealer yesterday who said Sharp drops prices frequently, so I'm hoping to see better pricing by end of summer. If I could find one for $4K shipped, I'd buy it today.

i swear i read that a few months back, the tv was only 3900 or some odd number, but the price was increased.

Modia at 5805 Westheimer in Houston, has the 632 on sale for $3698 + tax on "preseason clearance" "Today Only". I called the store and verified the model number. They could not verify the stock level but said we have some in stock...He also mentioned that they had the 844 in stock, and that it was on sale for "Hundreds Less than the regular price of $4,999, but again could not verify either the selling price, or availability. They are also offering 0% for 12 months...

The fine print at the bottom of the Houston Chronicle ad says, "Open box, Floor models, One Of a Kind " and that kind of verbage.wink.gif

sale is over at 6:00 pm today, I did not ask about delivery charges,

Their phone number is 713 952 5700

I wouldnt necessarily call that a killer deal...Very interesting though as this set has been out now for almost a year without significant price compression albeit, the Sears sale for $3300 & Costco's $2900 blowout (which I was fortunate enought to take price matching advantage of). No serious size competition = good margins for Sharp. I dont recall another flat panel -ever-that has held it's value next to this one. Are/were Elites as price resistant as thiis 80 632/633?

where did you get this price from? they still have it at 3,999 on there web site on the checkout screen. i plan to pick one up this week, but if you could post a link to the add that has that price i would be very happy so i can get my BB to price match that.

Are you referring to the 3499 price? well the add says its on sale but does not tell the price, you have to go in the store and buy it and you can see the price on the sign in the store on the tv display. You see this way there is no add price for BB to match. But it is 3499 I double checked it before I left.

i thought that 2900 -3400 was the clearance price for discontinued models?

Nope...I got mine from Sears last month for $3219 down all the way from their "regular" price of 4999 to 3999 on sale all week then for a 1day sale that same week they brought it down to $3419 and if you use your Sear card they dropped off another 5%.
Luckily I am in Mass bordering NH and NH has no sales tax so I picked it up at the store with no tax.
I also got the 3 month extended warranty for free from Sharps website and then signed on for an extended 3 years for $179 at their website. I'm good for over 4 years.
