Luckily I am in Mass bordering NH and NH has no sales tax so I picked it up at the store with no tax.
I also got the 3 month extended warranty for free from Sharps website and then signed on for an extended 3 years for $179 at their website. I'm good for over 4 years.
I have not been lucky to catch it for that price at sears. Both sears and fry's online price is listed for $3999. Was hoping to get this around the lower price point but have not been lucky at catching the right sale price yet.

Fry's is famous for having lower store prices than their ads , they want you in the store to buy the extras that always go with a Display purchase smile.gif

Well from what i can tell Best Buy has removed Mitts TV's from their sitr.
Which i was focused on the Mits 82742 for $2199

So i guess i'll have to shift to Sharp 70" or ideally 80" if you guys can find a really good Labor day sale price for us...

So lets hear your best pices found for the Sharp 80" er's

My thinking on going with the Mits 82" er was ;
Since i wasn't going to hang it on a wall anyway, ++ the Mits were said to have better picture ++ the ext. warranty was over $500 cheaper

We did see an advertisment for HHGreg on TV, you guys have mentioned them on this forum also..
I guess they must be new to our area because today was the 1st time we've seen their adds on TV...
Any word on HHGreg ??

paid $219 + tax for 3 years of extended warranty on my 844 model, its cheaper on the 632 model.
have a total of 4 years and 3 months of warranty, sharp gives you 3 months extra for registering the tv. pretty cheap for a warranty plan from sharp.
So you paid $219 for a FULL 4 year ext warranty..

Care to share where you bought the 8444 Sharp TV & how much you paid for it ??

Please......tell a me a good price !!

I thought 1 of the Blue shirts would have chimed in by now....

219 for an additional 3 years of warranty from sharp
tv comes with 1 year standard, and 3 extra months for registering the unit.
sharp has a good warranty system i have read

i paid $4497 a few weeks ago, for my 844 with 2 pairs of glasses and a sharp blu ray player. free freight, and did not pay any taxes from us appliance.

prices might be lower now, haven't kept track since buying it, they had the 632 for $3697 a few weeks back as well.
Thanks UFOkiller, the 844 Sharp would be pressing my luck, the 632 model would be more doableyou saved about $300- to $400 off of BB

Sears moved out of our area which kinda left BB to feast on our bones..

My major worry is warranty support when buying something that big & $$$$

BB had me won over with their $2199 price on their Mits 82" er, bummer they dropped Sharp or Vice-Versa, they had free delivery to my basement & i could get Geek squad 4yr ext. waranty for $397

My wife says get what i want, but i better be happy & satisfied.
If we gonna hang it on the wall, i would have to get the 632 or 844 that's why it made so much sense to get the 82" mits..

Has anyone had warranty work by usappliance or walts ??

..
i tried to get a lower price on the 632U from BB and i could only get them down to 3699.95 plus tax at my store. i was hoping to get down to the 3500otd area.

Have you tried Chris at CP? Since you're out of state, there may not be taxes, and that may get you in the range you want (though I don't actually know what his prices are, only baseing this on the way people report).

$397 for 4 yrs is double what I paid Sharp to extend by 3 yrs 3 months.
I paid $179 and have a total 4 yrs 3 months

And I only paid ~$100 for a Costco purchased SquareTrade warranty, also covering my set until it is 4 years and 3 months old. If you are interested in that alternative, I suggest searching this thread. It has been cussed and discussed already. No matter what you pay, extended warranties are not a good investment, nor even a good gamble. If you turn your credit card over, and call the 800 number on the back, you may find out that your credit card company already provides an additional year of warranty beyond the manufacturers warranty. Not all credit cards offer the additional warranty, and if you have a choice, I would use the card providing the additonal warranty.

I sent them an email off there web site yesturday and you can add $550 to what i was trying to get it for from BB.Ii thought it would have been a little a cheaper? I did ask about a calibration, so mabee the quote included the calibration?? Not sure but at this point, its not looking like i am going to get a deal on this set at the moment.

Then why did you buy the Costo warranty?

Just placed an order for the lc-80le844 from usappliance.com for $4,297 including 2 sets of glasses. The set is on back order, but I don't mind waiting. I called to get that price as the price shown on the website was too high. I read somewhere on this forum you need to actually call them to get the best price. Very easy to deal with them on the phone. They did not try to up sell me on anything else. The most important thing to me was that they are an authorized reseller. Also, if I find a lower price from another authorized dealer before they ship it, they will match it. I also purchased from amazon.com a used mounting bracket - Sanus Systems XF228-B1, for $265. Now just need to get the extended warranty. Can't wait for the TV to arrive.

some people have had problems with EastCoast TV beware ....
There seems to be a shortage of the 844U model, with delivery not expected until the end of September. Pricing seems to have leveled out at $4,278 including delivery, sometimes including a couple of glasses. Paul's and Cleveland are holding out for higher prices ($4,700) perhaps because they have stock? One vendor said there was a Sharp promotion last week that brought the price down to $4,300, and he expects another in October. BB would match the $4,278 but plus tax, and they are out of stock also. Guess I wait for a few weeks, just when I am ready to buy.....

As a Bean Counter, we have a going concern concept that overarches all the gobbledygook put out for public consumption/confusion...In a nutshell, if the entity is no longer in business, you can't believe any of this Horse ****. Well, I DO NOT accept that Sharp will be in business by the time I may need to collect on any extended warranty. I read somewhere that Sharp lost a $Billion + a few odd $Hundred Million in their most recent gobbledygook put out for public consumption/confusion...Here is some other more current scuttlebutt about Sharps Financial Mussels...

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1407829/official-sharp-lc-90le745u-discussion-thread-no-price-talk-d/300_100#post_22380152

Anyway, if Sharp does go belly up, and parts become unavailable, and any repair is therefore impossible, then, I will be relying on Squaretrade and Costco, and all you loyal Sharp eyed consumers, will be relying on an empty money bag to fix your sets. I hope that makes sense~ not that I hope or think it will happen...

Yes I just got 80 inch 3D tv at BB ,
It went with couple of offers for online retail and lucky me I ran across the manager of the store that was passing by the magnolia area. And told him, I'm here to buy this tv but this 2 stores have them cheaper. Show him the print out of east coast tv and some weird company of ny that was selling it cheaper.
Take in consideration this tv is right now in bb website for 5499.99 and east coast tv has them for 4430.99.
I saw the tv with the wife. I notice that the tag of the tv say 4999.99 but the tag expire on sept 3 but they still have to give the tv to you at that price because someone didnt do their job. So that is a price match right there...
So the manager took all my offers and say be right back, maybe to check on the website himself.
He came back 20 minutes later and say I can't give you this deal but I will give it to you for 4590, and I was like let make this deal...." yes it was couple of hundred more but I don't trust east coast tv with my credit card number plus BB give you reward and no interest for 36 months" Beside this tv in bb website cost 5499 so I think I got a good deal. You let me know what I got is describe below.
We were in the process of doing the order when I told my wife I wonder if he will give me the glasses for free. " I ask for 2 and I got 4 pairs of glasses for free"
I said to my wife let me push this and ask for 2 hdmi cables for free. " got them as well" I told them I need the mount as well " 279 in bb.com got it for 153 in the store "
So my total purchase came around 5080.80 for the 3d 80 tv, 4 3d glasses for free 2 3ft hdmi cables for free "@40 cable", the wall mount for 153' plus since best buy has free shipping BAMMMMM..... will get them to my house on Tuesday ....
So icant wait to set this bad boy up.....
so my advise shop around multiple bestbuy and try to speak With the manager of the store and no the sale reps...

I was in luck. Someone cancelled their order and I was the lucky one next in line. It shipped out on Thursday and I received it the next day. US appliance was great to deal with and still the best price I have seen, including beating all on-line sites. Again, you have to call them to get the lowest price (with glasses too). Set it up last night. It's great! 80 inches of screen to watch football on.
You don't have to call them to get the best price. I ordered on the 28th of Aug. when it listed as in stock and 4900. When I went through the ordering process after entering CC number it listed the unit at 4297 plus 2 free glasses. If it is not in stock I believe you do have to call and be placed on a waiting list. The panel arrived yesterday from home direct but delivered by Bekin. The email I received stated two men would deliver but low and behold only one showed up. It was pretty funny, the guy was alone and showed me the bill which stated 2 guys would be delivering but stamped on the bill was SMALL SHIPMENT which meant one guy delivery. Even though the box is basically in pristine condition, I wrote possible concealed damage and he instructed me to mark the places on the acceptance page of box damage etc. US Appliance states to notify them within 1 businness day of damage. Since it was delivered on Friday and San Diego Installs is coming Monday morning if there is an issue I believe I have until Monday to notify of damage if that should occur.

Open the box NOW .. the box is 2 parts the top part slide up & off the display sits in a foam cradle in the lower box , you can plug the display in while it's in the lower box , plug in & turn on it will go into set-up mode .

that will let you examine the glass lens for cracks as the set-up screen is very bright any small cracks will show up very well . If it is broken you will tell as soon as you start the display , then if it is EMAIL the report NOW don't wait till Monday (you can still call on Monday as well )
US Appliance is very strict about it's 24 hour damage notice

Thought i'd give ya'all an update on my decision..
Since i wasn't going to Wall mount the new TV in basement, it made the decision simpler. Saved mucho $$$$
We went to BB & ordered the 92" #840 for a really good price, delivery in home & make sure it works before they leave.
Also purchased the 4 year Geek Squad Extended warranty....

So Thanks for the info & kind treatment..
I'll be posting in the Mitsubishi threads from here on out....
Wish you all good viewing on your 80" sharps; i made 4 different trips to BB to evaluate the Sharp 80's.. It was a hard decision to make..

BTW, the last time HHGregg had a 11% sale, my local Best Buy matched their sale price and included delivery, installation (on-stand, no wall mount) and the removal of my 225 lb Pioneer RPTV. HHGreqq charges $80 for delivery.

Abes of Maine has the 632 for $3500 plus a $100 restaurant gift card and the 844 for $4270 again with the $100 restaurant gift card but no glasses and both have free shipping with tax only in NJ. I'm thnking the $3500 was my price point and am going to order one :-)
I'm new to this site but am looking for the best price on the 632. From what I see today, it's between Abe's of Maine and Fassie.com. I've read some sketchy things about Abe's but haven't seen anything on here about Fassie. I did a search and nothing really came up. Fassie has a good rating on Pricegrabber merchant rating and they're offering a super flat wall mount for free. Any feedback specific to these two vendors would be appreciated.
