Just got back from Fry's, they are sold out of all the 80" Sharps all over town. They also had a 70" Sony KDSR550A marked down from $2700 to $1600, of course sold out also.

Why was the R550 marked down that much? Clearly, it was a damaged open box item?

Nope, they were new in box, I got there around 7 PM and they said they sold out around 3 PM. There were a number of them up front brand new in box, I asked and they said they were waiting delivery to customers from purchases earlier in the day. Awesome deal. They did still have one on display but didn't ask if they would sell it, picture looked very good.

Stopped by a couple of Best Buys to see if I could get a similar deal on the 632 as Fry's, both only had floor models left and they had been on the wall for 8 Mo's + and they wanted $3400. I wonder how the store months translates to home months, probably 8 or 9 to 1 so these sets have already been through many years of home life. No way I would touch on of these, especially for more than the new price at Fry's.

$3400 for display is way too much..I paid $3219 brand new in the box almost a year ago at Sears.....
I would expect $2400 for display or not ever buy one...

I am not even considering a display unit, 8-10 hours of use a day, 7 days a week, for 8+ months is like 6 years of home use. No thanks, I will find one new in box.
