I've owned several plasmas since 2004 and used them religiously. This is the first time I've been convinced to switch technology for a large flat panel display. So much so that I cancelled a Panasonic 65GT30 enroute from Amazon; it seems so small against an 80in and 3D is not a concern. Crazy that I spent $5K back in 2004 for a 50" 720P Pioneer plasma. We AVSers were all talking about how it was so affordable to go with an industrial plasma versions (vs. consumer) back then. Nice, but expensive memories.

Why wait? I simply called US Appliance and placed my order. If you don't mind them charging you prior to shipping, then I don't see a problem. I'm not taking any chances on any potential price increase or availability.

The salesman noted that they have 60 on order and expect to receive at least 75% of them in ~3 weeks. He even told me my place in the backorder wait list; there are five people ahead of me and my order will be in the first batch. Three weeks (or four with shipping time) is ideal timing since I'm renovating the room. I used my AMEX card and have crazy customer protection if anything goes awry. AMEX also gives me one additional year of warranty coverage.

I asked the salesman if I could post his name on AVS for referal and he said no problems. They are accepting backorders.

Item: Sharp LC-80LE632U
Price: $3697 w/standard curbside shipping ($149 white glove)
US Appliance: (877) 628-9913
Salesman: Jason Manning

Just placed my order with US Appliance over the phone with a chatty service rep named Howard. We discussed all things Apple.

Word is that they will be getting new stock in the next 5-7 days.

Let the oversized games begin!

No doubt, and keep in mind, they're actually owned by ABC Warehouse, so they could actually be ordering more in total.

I ordered mine from US Appliance last week while they were out of stock. I was told that the new stock would come in on friday and I would be the 1st in line with my shipment expected to ship the following Monday. So far everything they have said has been spot-on. Friday they got a shipment, Monday my order went out and I received shipping confirmation. I should have my TV early next week.

My salesman was George and he too was very nice and knowledgeable just like the other salesman people on here have mentioned.

$3999 on sale this week at Fry's and according to there ad they are offering special financing for 36 months. Also, the new 80 inch is available for pre-order for $5999. If Fry's would be willing to price match US Appliance this would be a great deal with the 36 month financing.

I called US appliance with my finger on the trigger. $3697 for an 80inch changed my mind from buying a 65hx929. Then I find out they have to charge sales tax to Ohio residents. 3955 with tax After reading the owners thread and watching a display model at HH, I don't think a 65 is going to make me happy. It is so hard to make up my mind on what to buy.

My current tv is a samsung slimfit crt.

@ Joseph3 I am in the same boat. I have been going back and forth getting the Sharp 70 inch, 80 inch or a 65 inch Samsung. I have finally made the decision to just bite the bullet and get the Sharp 80. After seeing the 80 I can't settle for anything less. I know if I get something smaller I will regret it and every time I would watch TV I would just be thinking that I should have got the 80 inch.

How can us appliance sell this tv for $36xx, where everybody else is selling this monster for more than $4k. Is there a catch with this low price. Do they try and sell you other stuff to make up the margin? Anyone know the invoice cost of the set. Costco is still selling this beast for the mid $4's plus tax. That's almost $5 G's in NYC. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on this mammoth tv. Definitely looking to pay mid 3's rather than $5k including tax. Your comments are appreciated.......... Ruby T

Until the last 12-18 months, 65in used to be the luxury item in flat panel. It was attainable, but it was expensive and (with the exception of those 100 plus inchers from Panasonic) it was unsurpassed in mass production size. I had a 65in Panny in 2010 and was ready to upgrade to their latest 65 slim 3D panel when I saw the 70 Sharp. It was nice but it's overall footprint was barely larger than my 2010 65 Panny. In 2012 65in will be the new 55in for the masses. I think that's the limit for most American households. 80 will be the new luxury but still attainable panel for the next 2-3 years.

Call Chris @ Cleveland Plasma ... he'll help his price is about the same as the US-A price + tax...
but add in the Ohio sales tax & it's still much higher as that would place well over 4.3K

Yeah agreed & that's why I think this panel will be discontinued after awhile when the 844 comes on-line or months after ..... This was a test Panel to see if they would sell well & they have, So Sharp will add features & kick the price up. the 80" 632 is too close for competition with the 844 .
I hope I'm wrong ..

But glad I got mine on the way that's for sure ..............

No inside info but I don't think that'll happen. The official Sharp press release from CES began by talking about the 632, which I don't think it would've done had they planned to phase it out so quickly. Obviously I'm gambling a bit as I want this set, but cheaper but it's hard to see them phasing out a set that was released late last year before at least late summer.

they did it before with the 60" 88UM 2 years ago , that model was a great set that disappeared quickly , it was a 10G X-gen 3 pixel panel model 240Hz( with software) .
They dropped it quickly & started the edge lighted LED's in 60" (this was before the 70" came on-line ) the 810 line ...

My feeling is that Sharp has a lock on the huge size models LCD market & will leverage that into maximizing profits & 80"ers are going to be Sharp's premiere product , so the question will be do they only have one 80" Flagship model OR will they make a mid priced model that would compete with Sharp's own Flagship model ??
.. the 832 80" is a set that is a high quality set but without features ......Problem being that the 832 80" shines a little to britely to be placed under a Flagship model like the 844 will be .Plus the fact that the 832 80" is a full Array model & Sharp has phased out all full Array's(but the premiere line to be full array ) to be edge lighted models in the new 2012 line-up
And that is a Marketing problem for Sharp .

anyway this is all I M H O & a guess only ..
so don't flame on my point of view

I hope your right for your sake , don't get me wrong ....I do not want anyone to be denied getting a 632 80" . I would like the 632 80" to continue to sell for a long time as it's a model that has a " lack " of features that I like the most about the 632 80"(the 88UM was the same way )

I am ready to buy this set. Is there anywhere in Canada to get this set for a good price. Online or store (future shop, visions, best buy).
Talked to all of these big box store and the lowest they will go is $4500.00.

My only question is with the new model coming out what US Appliance will have that one for. Personally, I woulda liked the 3D.

No flames at all Mike!

One thing that remains to be seen is just how good the 844 winds up being of course. If good enough, and better enough, than the 632, then they could happily co-exist at say $1000 - $1500 apart (street). Even if they're roughly comparable (say only "a littler better" for the 844) then 3D may eventually become a compelling enough difference as 2012 progresses.

Well time will tell of course. With my luck I'll buy one for $4500 after it's been announced that they're being phased out!

Suzook,

I'm curious how high is the top of your bezel to the floor. I'm looking at a tilt mount but maybe not since it covers so much space. Would love to see pics if you have any n

Just an FYI, was in HHGregg today and the price for the 80 inch is $3999.99. Is the online price as well. Can't the the 10% coupon off to work however!

But, was able to use the coupon code of "memory5" (without the quotes) for $200 off (5%).

that is quite near what US Appliance is selling them @ $3,697.oo $100 difference
Do you have to pay state sales tax ?? from HHGreg .... I would have had to pay state taxes if I went thru Paul's as I was when I 1st started looking @ buying this Monster
here in Cali it's 10% so that's a wad .......

Wow. Fwiw at the checkout page I have the set in my cart at hhgregg at $3999 AND in the coupon section the button to Apply the one time 10% off 'sign up' coupon looks active. I don't want to apply it since I am not 100% ready to pull the trigger and afraid the coupon will be applied (I.e. used) even don't complete the check out. But it looks possible...
HHGregg showed out of stock. Though I agree the 10% off promo code appears to be live!
US Appliance is saying that they will have them in stock this week , but You can back-order them now if you call . they will not last long they went "out of stock " in 3 days last time ( 8 days ago ) Plus the fact that they are accepting orders now soo they might not have in stock if the pre-order takes what is coming in ..
If you are fence sitting then you would be best to call ..

May as well also start talking about the $6499 msrp 2012 844 set here too since it's due to ship shortly.

Anyone seeing any discounts? I would think it'd street close to $5k in the not too distant future.
You won't lose the coupon. You can apply and un-select it. When you select it, it takes nothing off, for me at least.
I just placed an order with USAppliance this morning. I was told about 3 weeks for them to get them in.
Someone had posted that they had 60 units coming in about 3 weeks & a parcel order was to be in this week , going by what DinoT posted those units for this week are sold by pre-order , So that's what I mean by not waiting as they may never show up on the Website at all as pre-orders will take all in-coming stock . I guess you could order one & then if you find one cheaper then cancel the order before it is shipped ?
this thread is most likely pushing Pre-orders & sales @ US-Appliance

You're right. I called to check why and it's because they have a 20% off sale running right now and so the coupon is suspended until after the sale. Kind of crappy the way they keep doing this. I guess when it comes to the US-A price resistance is futile!
