Sharp 80" pricing - Page 2

Just found out that if you sign up for the hhgregg newsletter they email you a 10% of coupon. The 80" is currently $4500 which would be $4050 shipped not tax.

I'm going to hold off as I'm sure the price will drop further, then will pounce with the 10% coupon.

hhgregg is now $4999. Good idea on the coupon though.

There have been many rave reviews about this display , Have you seen one ?
I actually like the idea that it is a no local dimming display & not a Quatron.
I never bought into the whole 4th yellow pixel idea myself
this is a full array back lighted set

If you are logged in the price is $4500.

To the poster above who had one in store . . . Did you calibrate it? I've seen it and it's pretty great, moreso given the price.

There is rumor of course of an 80" elite coming out which would have local dimming and of course be astronomically priced. The 70" elite still streets for around $6k. I could see the 80" elite msrp 9k street for $7k, pushing the 70/60 elites a notch down in price.

But this is not remotely a competitor for the 80632 which streets for 4ish. Or the April set and its 6500 msrp (figure 5k street).

I am pretty sure we will be able to get the 80632 for $3500 delivered as the days tick by. It's a nice set. And bang for the buck is tough to match.

What is this rumor based on and could that be the 80" 9-series rather than the Elite? I'm looking to replace my R70XBR2 this year with 80" model and I would not mind spending more to get better quality set so it would be great to know if this true.

Well it's the scuttlebutt post CES. They announced a pretty full 845 and 945 line up including the $6500 msrp set, so in those lines we probably know what there is to know (no guarantees of course). But no Elites were announced since they came out late last year.

Specualtion is thus that there will be an 80" elite and also perhaps a 90" set, though it could be elite or not. Note too that there is speculation that the 80/90 may be 4K.

All told, we know there will be at least one additional 80" set this year, alreadiy announced. I would be very surprised if there weren't more.

$3,697 shipped from US Appliance. You have to either go through the checkout process or call them for this price. I called to confirm due to a Samsung Plasma pricing problem reported on resellerratings.com several months ago (Septemberish). They also offer a 30 day guarantee, any problems they'll pick up the defective set and drop off a new one. They're also an authorized Sharp retailer as far as I can tell...they're owned by ABC Warehouse and ABC comes up on the Sharp website. If you have any questions, call them and ask for Larry ext. 434

Holy moly. I came here to post that it was $3870 on East Coast TV using a 2% off sale they have going on.

I've used US Appliance before for two large outdoor grills, a stove, and some other stuff. Never had any issues so I just may (finally) pull the trigger.

$3700 is an amazing price.

Also, note that in this or one of the other threads, some folks were able to get Amazon to price match Us-A by having the rep walk through check out. So if you prefer Amazon you may be in luck.

I don't think Amazon is selling this set direct at the moment.

Huh interesting. I know it's a niche product but it's sort of shocking in this day and age to find something that Amazon doesn't itself sell!

Until Amazon.Direct gets a volume discount , they will not get them . These are new to market soo ramp up in production takes time & Sharp will only discount volume when they really crank up production . Soon will be my guess , that Amazon.Direct start to offer them , my last 4 Sharps have been thru Amazon.Direct , I all ways wait till the bugs have been worked out on any new TV & I assume that Amazon does as well, they don't want to have a product that produces alot of returns All this is just speculation on my part

How far in checkout do you have to go? I am afraid to go past the screen where you put in your billing address and credit card info...

After you enter all of your information hit "next" or "continue" (forget which it actually is) and the discounted price will load. You won't actually be buying at that point.

Exactly. I've had my cart set up for the last 24 hours and keep refreshing and it's all still there for $3697, begging me to pull the trigger. Oy.

US Appliance back to $5k at check out

But hhgregg down to 4303 and you can get a 10% off coupon by signing into the site, so, a touch under $3900 delivered.

Well that didn't last too long. I wonder how many were ordered at the $3,697 price??

That still seems like a great deal at $3,873

Cleveland Plasma currently lists it at $3900.

Agreed $3873 pretty good. And I guess US-A sold every one they had!

Yup and I know they go a touch lower. East Coast TV still $3870 with the 2% sale that runs through 2/5.

Argh should've pulled the trigger from US Appliance!

I didn't realize Chris had dropped his price as well, good deal. When I was looking around last week, I'm pretty sure he was at $4,200 with $100 shipping.

Alltimetv has it for $3,978 with shipping - don't know anything about them but I did speak to them and they seemed okay. I think for the money though, I'd go with CP. I would have likely gone with CP anyway, but the deal from US Appliance was too good to pass up.

I think that if I order it from Cleveland Plasma, I'll have them calibrate for me as well. At least then I'll also know that the television is in good working condition before it arrives.

BTW, for those looking for a stand, these are quite good and are made in the USA:

Turns out I was having some kind of weird browser issue with US Appliance. Their price is still good, and still the lowest.

Yes, another good point. I was thinking of checking with Chad to see when he'd be in my area.

From what I understand, they will calibrate before they ship it out to you. You will end up with a "good" television because they will have put it through its paces before shipping it.
