Sharp 80" pricing - Page 16

I am sure there is alot of pent up "want it" from those who have been waiting for the 3D version (like me). that being said, it will die down, I assume, once the early adopters have their sets.

I for one am waiting for some good adn criticial reviews.

By then we should know if the "Elite 80" is 10k or 20k

Or online stores will refuse returns thus having to deal with the manufacture for a return of a defective set and probably no more tryouts at home.

The tryout policy is a bit abused these days. I know several people who purchase large TV's every January and return them every February. The abusers will always ruin it for the rest of us.

I believe in retuning a defective set (flash-lighting, dead pixels , clouding, misrepresented specifications, etc...) but there should be restocking fees or return for exchange only policies. To put an end to the abuse.

What's the differences between the 632 and the 633? Is one better than the other as far as picture quality?

633 has 240 Aquosmotion 632 has 120
both are native 120
the 633 uses a back strobe light effect to achieve software 240 .
that is done by software there is no extra lighting ....extra processing in a nut shell .

Sounds like you know your stuff!
So along the same lines, I have a Mitsu 73" Dlp & would like to go more but am limited by
12' viewing.area & lighted room.
I really like the 75" laservue picture, but the Sharp 80 looks great also for around same price.
Since the Sharp can be wall mounted , it will fit even beter and go bigger in distance.
I don't care about 3D , but I do care about excellent colors & watching in a bright & dim room (good screen) & price.
So can you give me your prespective.

I sit back at about 10 to 12 feet(depending if the recliner is up or down L O L )from a 632 80" wall mount that will move up/down sideways ,pull-out 24" . & I'm really impressed with my PQ , sharp detail, no motion issues with sports that I can see, ie: basket ball,Nascar, baseball, football . I have DirecTV Hd ,
the display is in a living room with a 16' wide picture window with drapes & I have no problems with colors nite or day. I don't care about 3D as well .
the PQ is stunning on the 632 with the settings I use from Suzook . Price was $3698.00 US Appliance shipped no taxes or shipping

http://www.us-appliance.com/lc80le632u.html
they are outta stock ATM but they say they will have back in stock soon , some AVS members have called & pre-ordered the set .
this is the best price out there ATM . US Appliance was really easy to deal with & they are a top notch E-retailer .

Would there be tax at us appliance or Cleveland plasma? I'm in NY.

So are the list prices for the 632 and the 633 the same? Which is the better TV?

US App only charges taxes in their home state, as For CP you'd have to call them.
as for which is better the 632 or a 633 I'd say/guess that they are the same. Just an extra processing option on the 633 . There is no spec sheet on the 633 yet from Sharp .

According to the PDF on the Sharp site, there are quite a bit fewer Web Apps built in to the 633. Also, the 633 has a 'Netflix' button right on the remote.

It means that adverted pricing is just that.....you can bet as inventory comes up deal.will be had but not published

Sharp just stepped in and mandated what the.minimum advertised price can be

Then that would be much like what US Appliance does when the Check-Out page ( that's the last page you see before the final purchase ) shows the Real discounted price ?

I'm asking these Questions so others will start to understand how this pricing policy can be side stepped ............ Just takes knowing all these points before you start looking at getting the best deal for yourself..........
AND how to proceed when looking for the best deals out there

Again I dont profess to have the inner workings (and insanity behind them) of map etc etc but I suspect any deals for now will be the result if calling in and working with your store of choice. If they have a deal at check out that would probably defeat why Sharp did this in the first place. Not to mention they just announced a multi billion dollar loss and feel this somehow might help :-)

Bingo , that's what I'm feeling now as well....
I notice that Onkyo seems to be starting that same policy as well

I was going to get the Sharp extended Warranty but when I spoke to Pauls TV they offered a 5 yr for only $279. Don't think I could pass that up..

Yes, it is through warrentech . He also mentioned that it would cover any 3D glasses or Blu ray player I purchased at the same time. He emailed me a few hours ago telling me it would be more $ then he quoted. I am waiting to hear back and will let you know.

Will Sharp, if Sharp is belly up? Just this possibility, makes some sort of a third party, warranty even more compelling. I know a little about this subject, since I bought an Olevia 265T FHD in June of 2008, and Olevia went under in July of 2008. That event was NOT unexpected, and I had already purchased a Sam's Club 4 year add on warranty, which will not expire until June, 2013.

The problem with Olevia now is just getting parts. If you can scrounge the parts, the sets can be repaired. There are no official channels for any parts, and even a minor problem (such as non-functional audio) leads to a full $ set unrepairable payout on the warranty claim! Then they let you keep the set, and if you are able to find parts, (or alternatively use your HT setup for sound).

All that said, I have NEVER had a claim under any extended warranty. So, whatever money you or me, or anyone else spends on extending a warranty is likely to be money down the rat hole!

So, I estimate that I have a 1 in 16 chance of having a claim during the years 1.26 through 4.25 on my Sharp80. To this I add a 1 in 10 chance of Sharp failing, and it looks like a reasonable GAMBLE on my part to buy a third party extended warranty, and that is exactly what I am going to do. (Costco SquareTrade warranty).

I would rethink warrentech but your call

A couple points..

1) I have never had an extended warranty I didn't use . Every single one of my tv's died and did several deaths. so in my experience it was well worth it .

2) I have dealt with warrentech before and they do suck it is like pulling teeth but it does eventually get done so I am not concerned with getting it fixed. It comes down to price.

3) Kind of a moot point now the price went up from $279 to $349 so I opted out. They do offer half your money back if you do not use the warranty . But I'll save that $ by going with sharp
