I presume you mean WarrAntech. This subject has already been beat to death on the Sharp 80 threads. If you will do a search on this and the other Sharp 80 threads, you will read all you could ever possibly want to know on this subject.

So where is all the pricing information in this thread now? Is this new pricing policy of Sharp's really going to curtail competitive pricing on the 844? Any dealers I've talked to keep saying things like "we are still cheaper than anyone else is advertising".....and yesterday I was told the minimum advertised price would be $5495 but now I see today 2 dealers on Amazon listing for $5299 so that part wasn't exactly true...so what are the dealer guidelines now?

Is the 844 going to be discounted (to where it should be around $4300) or not? And yes, I realize it is very new. I would like to get the 844 but 3D is definitely not worth more than a $500 difference to me and seeing how the 632 is still available at $3700...should I just accept the fact and get the 632 or wait for the 844 to drop...will it and how long?

Also what is the pricing on the 633?

the only pricing we've seen on a 633 is the post & photo's from a Nevada Costco about post #436 this thread
$4499.99

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...3#post21853283

on the 844 issue
being new & the recent price drop & then they went back again in just hours . I'd guess & only a guess there will be no drops in the near future
if you should buy a 633 ,632, 844 only you can make that call . but the 632 so far is all most issue free since it can out 6 months ago ..
Ordered the 632 and Monday from US Appliance and it just shipped today. Looks like they are back in stock.

San Diego Costco has the 633 on the floor $4499.99. Not sure if AquoMotion 240 is worth $1200 more than you can get a 632

I got my 844 For $4472. So you just need to catch the wave at the right point. It should arrive sometime next week.

Call the vendors and talk them down. They can't advertise low prices but you can still get them
post #487 of 1440
4799 by calling vendor. tried to get her lower but no dice. about 10 min ago (844)

as they show Outta Stock ATM ..
at some point there just gonna be 633's ???? & No 632's ??
They do have the 844 now as well as other new Sharps
844 for $5,499.00
Looks like that $3,697.oo for a 632 is/was a steal that we all knew it was

If the Best Buy # of $3700 is true (say $4k for non chain) add about $200 for shipping then they are making around $600 on that set.

Bundle a few things you may need . Like a 3D BR and some 3D eyeware and you can make up that difference. If you don't get your price then wait until things drop
post #490 of 1440
Well, since I was told to make up my own mind ...I did and went ahead and ordered the 632 which was still at $3697.00, now the waiting game begins....

On Saturday I had the 844 in my Amazon cart at $4480 but I waited till Sunday and it disappeared, at this point I don't care about 3D, I would use it seldom anyway....

I called Paul's TV on Monday (the 844 in my cart was from them) but they wouldn't budge from $4799, almost got'em down to $4699 but in the end they wouldn't do it..and they could only go $3999 on the 632 so I told the guy you know where to find me.

Then I called US and confirmed the 632 price and after calling back today and being told their price on the 844 was $5199 I decided that the 3D isn't important at this time (it will be better in 3 years when I upgrade ) so I ordered the 632, their price is really a bargain I think.

Canadian pricing
Now that Visions Electronics is out of the game in Vancouver BC, only Futureshop and BB and one small retailer will sell the Sharp. Futureshop quoted me for the 844 $5600, $99 each for 3D glasses and get this: $975 for 4 years extended warranty sigh... What to do? Suck it up and bite the bullet?

Is that the only real difference?
Is it really worth $1500 for yet not that great state of the art 3D.
I think I'll go the US at $3700 632 if that is the only diff.

3D, 4 color Pixel, refresh (still in question), web apps, browser.

For me the 3D was the main reason this time. Any smaller of a screen and I wouldn't have cared. Mostly wanted for 3D gaming. Gimmicky yes... but a good enough reason to invite some friends over and make a night of it.

I can see it maybe worth it for you.
Those things are not worth the price for many.
I like 3D for a couple of hours, then its a pain. (Literally)
4 color pixel? Hmmmmm
Apps-Now that's a good one, not for me and anyone who
realizes that they have been running full "programs"
with "Icons" (renamed apps by Jobs) and sold as a new concept?
Why would I limit what I can play, run or show from my streaming computer.

Sorry, it's kind of a Joke to anyone who has been doing full "apps"
for almost 10 years on a big screen.
I'd save the money & get 2 - 80" 's side by side for AWESOME racing at home with 2 playstations (real dual screens)
Will have to use my Mitsubishi 73" for the secopnd screen till I can upgrade to the dual 80"'s.

If you don't want or need 3D then go with the 632 or 633. If you want an 80" 3D flatscreen then you really have no other choice . I really don't see the dilemma .

No one has done a PQ review of the 844 vs the 632/633 to see if the quattron implementation makes the PQ any better on the 844. That may be the only reason to purchase if 3D is not a selling point. For me the 3D sold it. If price is an issue then wait till kickoff or Christmas and the prices should be over 1k lower then they are now.

Costco Canada has the 633

I think that's great advice, I'll see how low the price goes on the 632.
Unless the PQ on the newer sets are completely over the top Killer Difference.
I really like the PQ on the 632 for the great pricing & proven quality.
seems that the only difference between the 632 & the 633 is the Aquosmotion 240
which is likely only a software difference , the spec's are "Just" about the same but the 632 is heavier by 9 pounds , So will that change the PQ between the 2 ? I dough that seriously ,
does it give Sharp a reason to Charge more for the 633 ==> "YES"
does it give Sharp a reason to call the 633 a Newer Model for 2012 ... again ==> YES

I can see if one was a Gamer & wanted the 3D for Gaming then the only choice would be a 844 , the 633 or 632 will not be a choice at all .
I also can see if one likes 3D movies , has Kids , then the 844 is a choice that one must understand the extra $Coin$ to have the 844 .
but for a casual 3d viewer or someone who can't stand 3D , then the price difference between a 632 & a 844 is just not a value that can be accepted . These sets cost a lotta $ .
so no one can tell to a person you shoulda got "X" instead of "Y"
It's completely personal choice between models .
Choice is a "Good" thing !

So for 3D gaming etc and full 1920x1080:
Assuming proper height, should 8 feet seems to be enough away to ensure you do no see pixels and get the "IMAX" like experience - does that math work?

I believe the recommended distance is 10'. If you are going to sit closer then I would go look at the set in the store and try it out before you purchase. I would think 8' would be ok but I wouldn't take the chance with such an expensive set. Seeing the pixels would be a bit too annoying after paying that much. I would go to a 70" (847) if that was the issue.
Yeah, I was doing the math based on:

At my desk I have an Apple Cinema Display for work
30". Eyes are <2feet. Perfect. Can't see pixels

Did the math from CNET and you would need to be about 5 feet to see 80" pixels

And thinking down the road if I ever put it into a bigger room/house then bigger would be great. I definitely WANT the backlighting/quad2 etc/3D etc.

So for me it is Elite 70 (local dimming is incredible) vs. 80"
Was in the Seattle Costco today and they have reduced the 632 to $3999, with sales tax it is still not a viable alternative to US Appliance...FYI...

That is sad news. Less competition is never a good thing. I bought my Sharp 80" 632U from Visions Surrey a week after they came out. Good price at the time - 4.5K. Where did you hear they discontinued handling Sharp? I see they still list some of them on their site - maybe just getting rid of them???

I was in the Visions Surrey store a few days ago inquiring about the 844. The store manager just learned that himself. He said that it is a corporate decision. Once they sell off the remaining stock, they will not carry Sharp anymore. It almost sounded like they had a spat with Sharp. I wonder if it is something to do with the pricing policy. Later, I also learned from Futureshop that Visions will not be selling Sharp or Sony any more.

I am going to buy the 844 from FS. $5600 for the TV is not that bad for Canada; their extended warranty $975 is outrageous but I don't dare not get it. The TV is supposed to arrive mid April.
