You can either call, or add it to your cart, enter all your info including your credit card # and on the last screen before your order becomes "live", you will see the deduction of $1,302.

Thanks. I'm wrestling between the 70 and 80 inch Sharps. Is the 80 inch that much worth it?

size trumps the 70"
80" full back array trumps the 70" edge lit
the new 70"ers are reporting clouding issues

IMHO yes. I have never seen any tv on avsforum with so few negatives as the Sharp 80. I know that if I ever get around to changing the settings to some suggestions on the settings thread, it'll be even better (but it's not too shabby right out of the box!)

This is the first set I have purchased on line and had it shipped to my home. That is a lot cheaper, and it finally occured to me that all the local stores do is check the box for external damage, and add on a significant $ markup, then wait for the next sucker, ehrr customer to come by. This experience has made me a believer in the internet business model. Fry's has sold the 632 for as low as $4,000 but to that they add on $70 for delivery and sales tax on the whole deal. For the difference, I'll order on-line every time from now on.

I had a 70" Sharp Quattron model, and although it seemed better than any other (non-Sharp) TV, the 80" was a welcome step up. There is no way I could be satisfied with going back to the 70" model again. If you have a chance to see the two models side-by-side (or the 80" next to any other TV for that matter), you will not be satisfied until you have the 80" sitting in your living room.

add to the Fact that some of the early reports on the 2012 70" edge lighted displays "Some" are showing clouding on dark screens , which has NEVER been reported on these 80" displays the 844 & Never any issues with the 632 ( may be one blob on a quickly replaced 80" by Sharp )

10" & No Issues

that's a Win -Win in my book

A trivial detail, but the 80" actually has 32.5% more screen area than the 70" (2735 vs. 2064 sq. in.), since the 70" tv is actually 69.5" diagonal.

Pulled the trigger, getting the 632 tomorrow.
Watched Casino Royal where James Bond chases the bad guy on HD cable (720p per the salesperson?).
The screen had quite a few square 1/2 inch "blocks" that sort of blurred the picture in the fast chase scenes.
They went away in slower scenes.
Not sure what it was but whatever...

I sometimes see motion artifacts on TV broadcasts that I don't see while watching Blu-rays of the same movies. Perhaps it has something to do with lower broadcast TV bit-rate transmission? Also, I have now seen the 633 model at our local Costco. The picture was phenomenal, but the $4499 price tag seems steep.

No telling if the artifacts were due to compression or the TVespeciall on Cable or Sat but most of the prime time OTA HD broadcasts should not have much additional (if any) compression so if you are seeing them there it most likely is the TV

@ fatslappy what setting did you go with??? Glad you another Happy Camper

I honestly haven't even really messed with any of the settings. I think it looks perfect straight out the box.

(It's not faTslappy, it is fastslappy) I believe he went with the Suzook settings and dot by dot.

I agree with you about the standard picture. Just a suggestion, at least use the AV MODE button on the remote to cycle through, and see the range of all the factory settings for movie, game, etc. modes. Each of the 8 AV MODES are somewhat different.

Typical for cable. I see it all the time. CSI Miami used to be the worst due to all the fast camera movement and quick scene changes. Low bit rate and Mpeg2 compression are the culprits in my case with Shaw Cable. Pretty stupid actually. I can go into the hidden diagnostic menu and see that a movie I've saved is averaging 15mb/Sec and is about 15 GB in size. I can make a better blu-ray backup 4.5GB in size that looks better and has zero visible artifacts.

Sharp 3 year extended warranty $ 219 (+ tax depending on where you live)

You probably got the lowest current price since the April 1 "boom" was lowered and prices shot up from $ 4500 range to $ 5100-5400 range.

Was just checking their website. Do you know what the differences are between "In Home White Glove Delivery (assembly and installation not included) $129" and "Express White Glove Delivery (assembly and installation not included) $239"?

I looked on their Help page but see nothing about what these services actually DO include, and why one is more. Is the "Express" just faster delivery?

Thanks.
