The Echo may not natively support MKV, but it will work with MKV. Because it is a media center extender, that means it already supports MKV - just as Xbox does now. With the Divx media foundation codec, you can already get your media center to send the MKV video/audio untouched to the extender to be decoded by the extender. The question is, what bitrate/format video and what audio format will it support? Will it be able to extract the core DTS/AC3 from HD audio or will we have to store 2 audio formats? Will it support subtitles and changing between audio tracks?
