Thank you, Fanboyz, for confirming that my copy of "Twice" is defective. So far, none of the other discs have problems.

Every disc in the set is scratched to a superficial extent, perhaps your copy of YOLT got it the worst.

Somehow I doubt they had On Her Majesty's Secret Service or The Spy Who Loved Me either since they and You Only Live Twice are Best Buy exclusives.

For sake of comparison, I have opened and checked all but five of the individual releases that have come out to date, and I only found two of those discs to have any noteable imperfections. Maybe there is something to the packaging causes the scratches.

Makes me wish I didn't but my Star Wars discs back in their case. frown.gif

Robert Harris over at HTF gave this disc a 'not recommended'.

Is this mix on LD and SE DVD really mixed too hot? I always thought that GE was supposed to be this way and that they simply tamed it down for the UE remixes. It seems that the bass is high due to it being part of Serra's score which was mixed out as much as possible just before release by both Producers and studio.
The DTS laser will probably sound best of all.
On the singles, I found the Walmart three in a cardboard display today along with several sets and 11 of the other singles in new covers. On Tuesday neither BB or Walmart had or knew of any, but Target had theirs on a shelf along with the new single LTK. Oddly enough, AVTAK and TND were 9.99 but TLD was 14.99. Guess you pay for higher quality. wink.gif I will admit that the printing and cover design on these new issues is pretty substandard when you hold them in your hand.

All the Bond DTS lasers are fantastic

Not individual releases the ones in the box set.

Right, I knew what you meant. I was drawing a comparison between the condition of the discs from the boxset vs. the condition of the discs from the individual releases. It would seem that something about the discs used for boxset or the boxset itself, from the way it's being packaged to the packing iself, is causing the scratches.

I have not noticed any scratches with the discs I have pulled out of the boxset. Perhaps it is the way people are handling the discs? I am uber careful.

They get scratched by the people in the factory, as they slap the discs in the pockets as fast as they can.

Have you checked the price on Amazon? It's now $309 for the boxed set!!! Should have ordered it when it was only $100 on that one-day sale...

I got my Bond set for $199 at Best Buy.

Even though I bought the earlier Bond Blu-Rays I bought this set. I guess because I"m nuts. I'll probably give my extras to my pal who always gets my cast-offs.

I'd been going through my Bond Blu-Rays when they first came out, mostly chronologically, but I had to stop before For Your Eyes only. It was painful not having my sentimental Favorite, The Spy Who Loved Me (first bond film I saw
as a kid) yet. So I held off my Bond Journey until the rest of the films were released. I can't wait to start of the Bond-fest again.

I do see that the eleven individual 50th anniversary BD titles that Amazon sells is only $7.99 right now.

I bought 'You Only Live Thrice' after finally getting caps to look at from blu-ray.com & caps-a-holic.com and passed on 'Diamonds Are Forever' cause the caps look too processed for my tastes (may not be available in Canada anyhow). Maybe I will pick up Diamonds when it's $5 or if I like Skyfall so much I want to see it again (unlikely). Anyway will probably watch Twice this long weekend since I have not seen it in a while.

is the screen printing on the new discs the same as the ones in the box set?

'You Only Live Twice' has the typical Lowry look, waxy faces and often noticeable EE whenever there is something dark against something light, also a few times faces would have a rather artifact appearance. Frozen grain was hard to spot however.

Yes, the individual releases have the same black background with gold lettering.

Yup- but they claim they will have more in stock end of Nov. along with a great deal.
My guess is they will drop this back down for the holidays.

The delta between a 1.9k Lowry scan on a (late era) DVD and BD, is smaller than most would like…

Is anyone having an issue with pixelization or bad compression on The Spy Who Loved Me disc? It occurs from 10:32-10:40 and is especially noticable at 10:34 during the credits in chapter 4. I don't know if I have a bad disc or if all the discs are like this.

Every version I've ever seen on home video has had the same anomaly in the credit sequence.

So far, I have watched 8 out the 9 new realeses and I have to say that the Spy Who Loved Me and On her Majesty's Secret Service are the better ones... Goldeneye has already been discussed extensively... Tomorrow Never Dies looks poorly as well...
We will have to wait until the next round of releases to see if they fix them.. Although at the moment this is the best presentation in recorded media to enjoy them.....
