Panasonic DMP BDT500 - Page 7

The RCA front analog outputs are the same ones you will connect to the amplifier with just stereo. Since they are hooked up to my receiver as 7.1, I would be experiencing the same audio issues you have. I always run my blu-ray at 24p mode and had no audio issues.

Look forward to hearing more about the player. While waiting I got another 350. I also temporarily hooked up an old BD55. I couldnt believe how horrid the BD55 looked.

How quiet is the 500 compared to the 350??

Aprox 300.00 is a great price.

I received an email yesterday from the Panasonic Store saying that the DMP-BDT500 has an "anticipated delivery of stock" of 5/13/2012. I assume that's when the cargo ship arrives in port.

I checked the Panasonic Store order status web page but it didn't have any update.

I called, and they guy said that it looks like it will be mailed to me around Monday, May 21 (I placed my order a couple weeks ago through the Panasonic Store).

none of these show in-stock except for Davidson (shows 13); but I don't believe that since Davidson showed 13 in-stock last week also. New England Service says that they'll have then in-stock on May 29th. Amazon still says 3-5 weeks.

I'm still hoping that I get my Panasonic Store shipment mid next week.

I've just got an email from Amazon giving a new estimated arrival date of May 18.

Just picked up the 500 at the Best Buy I work at here in NJ. Hooking it up to my PTAE4000 and my Yamaha RX-Z1 receiver tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how the analog outs sound. Upgraded from a BD85.

Yes, please let us know how the analog sound quality is. If possible compared with the stereo analog outs of an "ordinary" blu ray player and also compared with a dedicated cd player when playing music if possible.

Yes my store alone has four.

Amazon says that it will be in-stock there on May 25. Based on this, it sounds like (if the BB employees don't gobble them all up first ), then people should be able to get limited quantities from BBmagnolia now, or general availability next week.

Abt says that they have them in-stock now ($328). I contacted them and they have 8 in stock (at 1:50pm Pacific Time).


Oh well, so much for my ordering from the Panasonic Store and paying $$$ in hopes of getting it early. The customer support rep says that it should ship to me next week...

BB does have a terrible reputation for this. I am surprised that management doesn't crack down on this. It reduces the likelihood that a customer will try BB when they know things have been picked over by the staff.

Honestly I have no clue where this comes from in my store there isn't one person that goes goo goo over anything home theater related except for me and we receive no discount on apple products and aren't allowed to buy them release day.

You have to remember that unlike smaller retailers who small lots of 8 at a time or whatever and have to buy more and wait for them, BBY probably buys 1000's and they just ship from DDC's when the system shows sku movement.

I just picked one up at bb this weekend, you have to ask them to look it up in their inventory.The picture and analog sound are exemplary coming from a ps3.The analog menu set up and touch pad are horrible.I had to use a test dvd to set up the subwoofer .The set up procedure is not very intuitive and the manual is nebulous .The unit outputs test tone to every channel except the sub,which makes one think the sub connection or player is bad.

Mine finally arrived from Amazon today.

Nice looking fast loading player that is badly marred with it's goofy re-inventing the wheel touchpad remote.

Why couldn't Panasonic just include a proper backlit remote if they are planning to compete with the upscale player manufacturers with this unit?

Now showing up on Best Buy's site (not in stock in Madison or Janesville Wisconsin area stores) with a 3-5 day in store ETA.

I called the Panasonic Store today to check on the status of my order (placed several weeks ago). They said that it wouldn't "arrive" at the warehouse until May 27, so I would get it several days after that.

So apparently, Best Buy gets them first somehow, bypassing the Panasonic warehouse (or they are first in-line ahead of the Panasonic Store).

I also asked about the "ships in 1-3 business days" on the Panasonic Store web site listing for the DMT-BDT500. The person I spoke with said, "yes, we've been trying to get that changed". So apparently their in-stock checker isn't working...


Anyway, I cancelled my Panasonic Store $377 order.

Placed my order for a 500 (replacing my 300), using the "ship to/pick up in store" option - ETA Friday 5/25. It'll be nice to have a weekend in which to play!

Will somebody please post some high quality photos of theirs when they get a chance?

I'm planning to shoot an HD "un-boxing", "overview" and "configuration" video (for upload to my YouTube channel), and will probably take a few pictures to post here.

The two YouTube videos that I've seen so far, are pathetic, with one appearing to be a "hidden camera" of a guy walking through a store and to the display, and the other being a very poor quality capture of someone working their way through the setup menu.

I'll be sure to post a link, once I've got something worthy of viewing.

Anybody knows if there is any difference in HDMI sound (bitsream) and video between 320 and 500? Thanks.

there should be no difference at all for sound.
video, I don't know yet until I get my hands on my review sample.

I watched Super 8 on my dmpbdt500 and the sound is much improved over my ps3 using calibrated analog outs.The train scene was awesome,much better, bombastic, with much better range.The video has also been improved subjectively.

When compared to PS3, most BD players in the past 2 years are better in AQ and PQ

Anyway I just caved in and ordered one at 329.99 (2 day shipping included) via amazon prime (I pay $79/yr for the service) for delivery *two* days from now.

Those with more patience will likely pay another 10% less.

I wonder how the analog section compares to the Oppo95 ?

When it comes to blu-ray players the whole thing keeps changing rapidly, so I'm not inclined to pony up $1000 for an already old blu-ray player!
