IR Remote through a wall - novice needs advice

Hi - I have a Samsung 40" LED (UN40D6000). The tv is mounted on the wall. The cable box is behind the wall, in a closet, so the HDMI cord runs from the cable box, through, the wall, to the tv.

Since the cable box is in the closet, the cable remote doesn't reach it. I would like help understanding my options. I understand I can buy something like these:

Next Generation Remote Control Extender

Cables To Go Impact Acoustics 40430 Infrared (IR) Remote Control Repeater Kit

I have two questions:

1. Are these the best way to solve this problem?

2. If so, what product do people recommend?

Yep an IR repeater is what your gonna need. As far as brands I don't have much experience with either of those you mentioned but I imagine if you did a Google search for IR repeater you might find something.

Next Gen works great.

Would easily solve your problem, as long as your cable box remote uses AA or AAA batteries.

Thanks. I just ordered the Next Gen. The price was right ($40) and I like that I won't have to stick a receptor on the front of the tv.

That's a cool product.

It's seems like the logical solution is to enable tv's to pass through IR signals. There's already an IR receiver on the tv. There should be an "IR out" terminal on the back that you can then connect to an emitter or an "IR in" terminal on a cable box, blu-ray player, etc.

Do any tvs have this? (Not that I'm going to buy a new tv just to solve this problem!)
