Price drop for 2011 GT30 in next 30 days?

The large GT30s will likely see a price drop. The 50 and 55" versions are getting rarer and rarer. Production stopped in November and there are few out there.

I asked the same thing when I exchanged my TV at BB and was told the price match will only take place from the original purchase date and not from the date of exchange.

Yes- BB does PM for up to 30 days after purchase. But... they will not PM any 'online' deals, only prices from nearby competitors (and these stores must have the item in stock). I don't think the prices will be significantly lower within the next month so if I were you I'd buy the TV asap before they are out of stock!

They price match for 60 days as of when I bought mine in November. The only way you could go longer is to buy any different model or size then it's a new tv, sticking with the same set won't extend the pricematch.

I was hoping to see a good price drop on the 50GT30 between Christmas and Superbowl. Last year, Fry's and Costco had the 50GT25 for $899 and less. Doesn't seem to be happening this year, as not many GT30s still available. But may wait on the GT50 later this year; looks promising. Last good price on 50GT30 was $974 on Black Friday.

Interesting. Read a post - from someone who apparently works for Panasonic - that implied Pan had stopped producing LARGE panel sizes, and that therefore those could well end up being hard to find.

Or perhaps ALL 2011 Model plasma production has ceased, and only those sets / panels still in the pipeline are left?

wait for February....because most had extended returns till Jan end. If they drop prices now, all of the folks who purchased in the holiday season would either return their TV (for free) and get a new one for cheaper or ask for a refund for the difference.

I'm also holding out for a GT price drop. I'm looking at the 55" on Amazon and with Prime I like the price but I'm wondering if it can drop more before the super bowl.

A few years back I was able to get a real nice deal on a 65" Panny S1 as the price dropped a week before the super bowl.

Was in Fry's yesterday, and they had the 55GT30 at $1299. They were out of the 50".

I've been after one of the 50 or 55" (most likely the 50") for a few weeks now. I had a price of 1199 on a receipt from the guy at BB, but ofcourse they won't honor that and the price is sitting at like 1400.

Regarding the rarity of the 50 and 55": When I asked if they were good on stock he glanced at the screen and responded "oh yeah...we're just fine on stock". Said they had plenty.

I wouldnt normally buy from BB as they annoy me but I've got somewhere around 400 bucks in gift cards lol.

Sears recently had the 50gt30 on sale for $999 but I couldn't find one at ANY stores or online and they could not order one. The price on Amazon for the same tv dropped $120 this week and is now $1049. Don't want stock to dry up and lose out...I jumped.

Yeah it looks like they have it "on sale" for 1199 right now. Man...If I could find it at a local place BB would price match for 999 I'd have it ordered right now. I just want to have that extra $ to get it calibrated.

BB had 50gt30 at $999 Black Friday weekend, and other retailers had it at $974. Price has been going back up, stock decreasing. And Fry's had 55GT30 at $1299 instore this past week.

Saw the 55gt30 at j&r music world today for $1,398 in store
