The Finder on Fox HD

This looks to be at least entertaining. Just having Michael Clarke Duncan it is worthwhile, not to mention Mercedes Mason.

Sweets from Bones on next week.

Off to a good start.

Personally, I like the pilot MUCH better. Miss the bartender chick, and they seem to have made the show even more quirky. I like the local, and find most of the characters interesting so I'll tune in again, but I think it still needs some fixing.

I'll give it one more shot but doesn't seem to be my type of show
post #4 of 65
I am sure in the middle on this show. I like "buddy" quirky shows so I'll give it a couple more tries. I'm not sure what even happened in the Pilot episode.

Tivo reported this as ep 101(which I believe is a pilot) and was recorded as part of my "pilot" wishlist. Kind of seemed like a second program though and next week Tivo reports ep105 ("Bullets") will air Maybe the same people that air "Body of Proof" decide what order to air this program

There was an earlier pilot, but the show was sent back for "retooling."

There was an episode of Bones that introduced the characters
post #9 of 65
Yes, the pilot was on Bones a few weeks back.
In reality, the rerun of the pilot was on Bones a few weeks ago. The pilot was aired in season 6 last May.

Honestly we really liked it. Then again we like quirky type shows. And anything with MDC in it is a must watch for me anyway. I don't see it lasting into another season and frankly it's just a "fill-in" for Bones while the star is off for maternity leave. I'm sure if it was a huge hit Fox would find room for it next year but I doubt they had any plan for it beyond that. And I'm fine with that.
I like MCD so that helps a great deal in watching this but I prefer the character setup in the backdoor pilot. Saffron Burrows was more interesting than the Marshall-who-looks-like-Sarah-Shahi and the kid factor seems like a forced attempt to just cutify the premise.

Like Bones it's a reasonably fun show that's held together by fun characters and dialog. The plots are pretty weak.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned anything about the new shuttle landing path, a path that is impossible.

Everyone knows the path the shuttle takes when reentering from orbit, yet they decided to really ignore science for this episode.

I'm surprised "nobody" realizes the shuttles ain't flying anymore thus the entire episode is kind of impossible .... maybe because it just a fictional show with fictional characters and plots.

Yes I'm cranky today ... but finally well rested for once.

I let that part slide. I should look to see if the shuttle name can be made out. It would have been easier if it were 1080i, over 720p.

They can fictionalize a shuttle flight, but they shouldn't have screwed up the reentry.

You have GOT to be joking! In a show that talks about sun spots entering the earth's atmosphere, and strapping cameras to a sea snake's head, the shuttle path error is too far down the list to even notice. There was SO VERY much bad, scientifically, about this episode, the shuttle path was buried in the noise floor of so much nonsense. Did they even have a consultant for this episode?

And I am getting really tired of some "person" on every show suddenly becoming a computer genius. So a Gypsy underage teen can sift through the best disinformation that the "powers that be" can create and get to the unaltered video. Really?

This was not a great episode.
^^^The other items that you mention are underneath the shuttle reentry course. Yes, they were wrong as well. Still not as bad as the reentry. In my book anyway.

If they had done it right, everything would have been upside down in the video shot by the astronaut. So some producer probably said "flip it around so people can see Florida right side up and know what they are looking at."
Most of this is actually about a realistic as the astronaut saying that he had seen Santa Clause (was that it?)

No, not true. Once the retros are fired, they do the flip so that the shield is facing the earth.

Right, the shuttle comes in like an airplane once it drops out of orbit.

I believe "Santa Claus" is code for UFO.

You misunderstood. It comes from the north. They had it coming from the south, so the state of Florida would be right side up. I was referring to the US being upside down, not the shuttle.
The only time the shuttle would be coming in from the north is when they were at low altitude. At the point of time depicted in the episode, they were just reentering the atmosphere, so they should have been going north east over the Pacific.

If I remember rightly, back in the early days of manned spaceflight there was a mission that was up in the vicinity of Christmas, and one of the astronauts did in fact say "please be informed that there is a Santa Claus". The conspiracy theorists have decided that "Santa Claus" was code for "UFO", which doesn't quite make sense since other missions reported unidentified objects, in the strict sense, without any secrecy.

Is no one else thinking that the next topic on Sherman's board should be Ding- Dongs vs. Twinkies?

This thought plagues me.
OMG, that is exactly what I was thinking.
I had to go back and check to tell that they were two different people.

And, yes, perhaps the plots are weak, but I find most TV shows to be pretty weak in general. I only watch for interesting characters.

PS>> Ding Dongs vs. Twinkies?

Fox Moves 'The Finder' to Fridays, Delays Episodes Until April
By Michael O'Connell, The Hollywood Reporter's 'Live Feed' Blog - Mar. 2, 2012

If you're looking for Fox's The Finder, you won't see it in its current timeslot for long.

After the Mar. 8 spring finale, the network announced that the freshman drama will move to Fridays. The Bones spin-off, which has posted lackluster retention from its strong American Idol lead-in, will take a month off the air, before resuming its season on April 6.

The news comes just days after Fox announced a midseason shuffle that would break up The Finder's run. It also marked a move for its parent series, which loses its Thursday slot to Kiefer Sutherland's Touch. Bones will now air Mondays at 8:00 p.m. when it returns.

Though stronger than Fox's other midseason drama, Alcatraz, the most recent episode of The Finder only pulled a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.22 million viewers after American Idol.

The series was created by Bones showrunner Hart Hanson and stars Geoff Stults as a man with the gift to locate anything.

It's not looking good for a renewal right now. Dear AVS members, the show is really funny and has a couple of gorgeous women in it. Start watching before it's too late!

Yeah, I'd hate to see it go, I don't have a lot of hope for it, but I really do enjoy the show. I've caught them all since the beginning. I hope some way or the other it can hang on. I can't believe I've watched all the eps, I didn't think I'd give it over two or three eps at the most.
