Coloured marks from a Epson emp8300

Thread Starter
I have recently acquired an Epson emp8300 projector which when projecting a white screen had a blurred red mark to the left and bottom and a blurred blue line to the top and right. Ive cleaned the dust out of many projectors in the past but not come across one quite like this before. So I got on to Epson support who came back with the usual patronising reply The only way to repair it is to replace the optical engine, this can only be done by a authorized service centre.
I did read one thread that talked about reseating the pbs array but I pulled it apart and everything looked clean and secure with no obvious way to adjust anything.
Has anyone come across this and managed to solve it?

Yep, polorizers and or optical block failing.. live with it of junk it. This is typical of 3LCD projectors of older vintage.

Lenses don’t wear out and polarizer’s can be replaced but it’s not cost effective to just change everything
