Direct TV - Google TV 3D Issues

I need a solution for Google TV/Direct TV 3D.

Unfortunately the Sony Google TV box is not 3D ready, so the only way I can get 3D is by connecting Direct TV > 3D Receiver (Denon AVR-591) directly to my 3D TV (Mitsubishi 82"). I'm trying not to lose my GoogleTV integration for the 95% of viewing I do, but also not have to fumble around switching HDMI cables whenever some worthwhile content pops up on ESPN3D.

Will an 1x2 HDMI Switch work? If so, which one?

Potential Connections would be:

3D Viewing
Direct TV > HDMI Switch (port 1) > 3D Receiver (Denon AVR-591) > 3D TV (Mitsubishi 82")

Non 3D Viewing
Direct TV > HDMI Switch (port 2) > Google TV > 3D Receiver (Denon AVR-591) > 3D TV (Mitsubishi 82")

No - you'll still have lowest common denominator problems. Everything will be non-3 D. Remember HDMI can only send one video and one audio signal at a time.

But doesn't a switch only send 1 signal at a time?

HDMI Splitter - Send 2 signals at once

HDMI Switch - Sends 1 signal based on port you decide

No, the source sees both EDIDs from the sinks and then sends only video and audio compatible with both sinks.

Here is my solution and it works. The cost is $20 for a HDMI splitter.

DirecTV ---> 3D ready HDMI splitter ----> Google TV ----> Receiver ---> TV
DirecTV ---> 3D ready HDMI splitter --- Receiver ---> TV

I am using a inexpensive $24 HDMI splitter from Monoprice (sorry I am not allowed to post the link).

I do not have to turn off my Sony Google TV when I watch DirecTV 3D program using the lower path shown above. The only thing I need to do is to make sure that I switch to a non-3D channel when I am done before switching back to Google TV (upper path). Otherwise I will see no picture until I turn off and on the Google TV.
