Wow, you are sick man! I wasn't sure if "Bluray navigation" meant full menus or just the time search, next, like a simple navigation.

It says EVERYTHING!!! My main beef with the aios is that the java based blu ray titles don't play which is a lot of my viewing for tv series! I don't EXPECT that similar chip based player like the one I just ordered to work but what the hell!

Hey, I was born on a Thursday, but it was not yesterday! I like trying new toys! I know what it SAYS, but what the heck, I want to give it a whirl! I will fall over backwards if it plays bd java based blu ray rips correctly though. My main reason for buying it is to double check and make sure that it does not have a 4.2.2 color space so dropzone7 can stop wondering if it does!

Besides, it's WHITE! When's the last time you saw a white media player!

Can you leave them a reality check review on Amazon once you play with it then ?

Amazon just dropped off another oppo 93. If I got lucky and it has the old firmware, I am going to toss it on a shelf somewhere for 6 months and then cash out!

Still playing with it, but as expected bd java titles confuse the sh!t out of it. (just like the aios) My rip of Harry Potter DH part I full ISO played the directors making of featurette and not surprisingly my "Chuck" ISO rip also played just like the aios did.
Interface is uglier than the stock aios one, and we all know how freakin' ugly that one is! From my limited testing there is NO reason to get this one over the AIOS, but I am still playing with it..

Because you have not played a bunch of java infested ones such as Chuck and the last two Harry Potter films. (assuming you are using full iso rips of the disk)

Well, that's disappointing...you just saved me the time and money though so thanks for that.

So is the AIOS worth getting? I don't see anything in the near future replacing my Dune but if the AIOS will do most of what the Dune will for $90 bucks then I might get one for a bedroom or something. I really need a Netflix enable box for my wife though. I guess the latest WDTV box is going to be best for that.

The only stumbling block on the aios FOR ME is that I have all of my stuff ripped as iso's. When there are java based iso's and ones with multiple branching playlists, it stumbles ansd just picks the longest one to play. Other than that it is darn solid for what it does and it does it very well. However as much of what I am watching is tv shows with java based encoded in them it won't work as a secondary player for me. The dune is still the end all be all for me. If you want a deal on one dropzone7 just drop me a pm. I sold one off to Brajesh and have the one left due to consolidating my systems...

My wife liked the AIOS more than the Mede8er, but we have the AIOS in our master bedroom. So, she uses it often and that's probably why she liked it the most. I ended up selling the Mede8er, and bought the Dune D1, which is awesome as well. I really like Zappiti, but I might try Yadis since a lot of people are raving about it.

However, I only rip main movie M2TS with ClownBD for blu-ray, and I use MakeMKV for SD Movies. For TV Shows I rip them as ISO's if they are SD. I've got one season TV Show in blu-ray (house season 5) to test as ISO. If it doesn't work, I'll have to do individual shows.

Just wanted to thank aasoror for starting this Thread and all the great details everyone has posted.
I just ordered one with the free Wifi dongle from NewEgg and can't wait to receive it and get it setup.

This is what I see from the Aios on my display:

This is what it should look like:

Has anyone found an answer to this? Looking at the manual, I do not see any video settings beyond resolution.

What movies is that? What scene/time? If I have the movie I'll play it and see what I get.

I don't know. Maybe dhnjp1 can jump in.

The WD TV Live has RGB Low, RGB High etc settings for the HDMI output to ensure video is output in the correct format. It is important to those of us who have calibrated sets, I for one would be hesitant to calibrate an input on my set just for this, when all the other components output RGB correctly.

Why would you be "hesitant to calibrate an input on my set just for this"??!! Isn't that the whole purpose of HAVING multiple inputs with different setting for different devices?? What am I missing here? I calibrate inputs for all of my devices when needed, why would this be any different or give you "hesitation"?

I use a 4x4 matrix switch to distribute all my devices throughout the house from my media room, therefore I'm using only one output / input for each set. Changing the calibration for this would also change the calibration for all the other devices, I would have to recalibrate each time I switch between this and any other devices.

Well then that would be a bit different than what you originally posted and make sense..

After further testing using the AVS HD709 calibration test patterns, I've determined the following:
  • Good news: If you can change the HDMI RGB input range of your display to Extended/PC(0-255), the image is accurate.
  • Bad news: There is no other way to obtain correct black/white level calibration. Using just the brightness/contrast controls won't give correct levels if the RGB range doesn't match.
Searching for: realtek "16-235"
shows this has been an issue with Realtek chip players for years.

If you can do the workaround, it's no big deal. If you can't, then get a Sigma chip player.

You actually don't have to redo the ripping, if you have a PC on the network you can just mount the ISO using "daemon tools" (or similar) then share the mounted ISO over the network and access individual stream files from the AIOS. Its a lengthy workaround but I have an HTPC running on my network 24/7 (the one running playon.tv) any way.

Doesn't most HDTVs have a PC compatible HDMI input (typically the input that will support additional analogue audio input) ? shouldn't that be compatible with Extended/PC(0-255)
