Well, I missed the deal with the rebate.
IF you should see another deal and if you don't mind, please post here.

Thanks

George

Why do you say that? The rebate runs to 7/31. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815645001

Click the arrow next to the $74.99.

Ah, I meant Tigerdirect which would have dropped it to 48 bucks after rebate

Thanks

I plug/unplug and move my AIOS around a lot. Yesterday the HDMI output stopped working. The cable would rock up/down, so I was worried that the socket had come loose from the circuit board.

Thought I would open it and take a look before sending in for repair. Turns out the socket solder connections were fine (they're through hole, not surface mount, so are very strong).

I noticed the socket has 2 tabs on both the top and bottom to hold the cable firmly in place. On mine, the top 2 tabs were bent up and weren't doing anything to hold the cable. I just bent them back down. The cable doesn't rock any more and the HDMI works again. Easy fix!

McHoop

I have loads of ripped DTS .wav files and had the same issue as you. This little app will fix the headers in the files so they will play. wav2dts.exe

It's from Shark's Codecs site list of tools:

DTS in WAV converter This small tool will convert unplayable DTS audio files (just static noise) which usually have a .wav extension into files that will playback using the Shark007 Codecs... instantly. Just drag n drop the unplayable file onto the downloaded executable.

You don't need the codecs obviously.

Just ordered from NCIS for $69 (after $20) rebate. Home pages says $79 but when you click the product, it comes up $69.

I have an Argosy HV335T now and can't wait to try this baby out. I currently have 834 .mkv bluray on 20TB WHS. Excuse me if I haven't read this whole thread yet but with the various FW out there, is there a decent search functionality without going Jukebox?

Thanks,
A440hz

The latest semiofficial firmware has the SRJG jukebox included which is really easy to build and update (it does have search function).
The other option is to use the AIOS local media library indexing functions (which supports sorting and searching), but that requires the media to be local to AIOS (internal/external HDD) there is a workaround for that which requires linking your media folders over the network on the the AIOS local storage formatted in ext3 (its not really that hard and there is a detailed guide for that on the AIOS forums).

Best of luck,

Thanks for the prompt reply, Aasoror. I have read a number of your useful guides already and appreciate all your work. I have a 60gb ssd that I plan on popping into the AIOS when I get it. That should give me enough space to use for local ext storage to play around. I will be using network storage for all media exclusively.

I also ordered a Logitech Harmony 300 too (I've already had four other expensive Harmony remotes over the years that have stopped working right after the warranty ran out) in case I want to try out some other FW. I can't wait to get this puppy... I'm so sick of having to scroll though 800+ titles to get to what I'm looking for... this will be sweet.

I also use a couple of HTPCs but WHS, Media Browser and Shark's Codecs are too much work. I hope this little box will meet most of my needs.

Cheers,
A440hz

Does anyone here have experience with Media Center Master scrubber? It can output an .nfo file that is compatible with Popcorn Hour/YAMJ. The advantage is that it can scrub adult titles as well as IMDB, TMDB and Amazon. Would this file work for media info or do I have to use ThumbGen?

Been considering a WD TV Live streaming and just came across this, seems like I may have another option. Can someone help me on the wifi functionaily that this can offer? I have WD My Book Live attached to the network and am curious as to the possibilities to be able to stream the media to this device.

The "other" FW was already batched for official AIOS remote compatibility wink.gif

How is scrapping done is not important, what just matters is that the resulting files would match the requirements of the jukebox builder (in case of the latest jukebox it would be name.jpg, name_sheet.jpg and name.nfo)

once a compatible wifi is installed you can connect to your wifi network for local and internet streaming (just like a using a wire).
That said, wifi (as with most similar devices) is YMMV depending on your specific setup, typically you should be able to get your SD contents and low bit rate 720p rips streamed without issues over wifi.

It doesn't have built in wireless like the WDTV. You will have to buy a dongle for wireless. You will not be able to stream high bitrate content via wireless, but you will be able to stream SD and most 720p content via wireless.

You mean the Semiofficial: AIOS-SO-FW- 3.0.1.7, not The Mede8er build, right?
So to stream 1080p content like blu ray rips you would need it plugged in via ethernet. The same goes for the WD also right?

There is no Mede8er build for the AIOS, I meant the XtrAIOS.
The Semiofficial builds are based on the official ones, so its not exactly hacked, but more of "enriched" wink.gif

There is many variables involved, for example, even if you have an N adapter, your router will fall automatically to G speeds whenever a G device connect to your network (when router is operating in "mixed mode"), there is also interference with other wifi networks and other wireless devices running in the 2.4Ghz band.

I personally think a wire is the way to go, that said, there is have been several success stories regarding HD streaming on wifi, most concrete ones involved using a wire to a WIFI AP instead of using the USB wifi adapter. Using a WIFI AP you can go as fancy as you want (set up a 5.8Ghz band N network only for fastest and most reliable connection)

Gotcha, thanks. So 04/04/2012 XtrAIOS 3.0.12 is the one I want to try? Thanks for all your hard work, helpfulness, and patience. smile.gif

Yup .. thats the latest unofficial, though I would encourage you to try the latest semiofficial one (R20), the semiofficial releases are the ones I work on wink.gif

That's my plan. BTW, is Pandora on R20 or just on Xtra?

I have another question for you. Is there a problem playing older (sd) flv files via storage or just streaming them from YouTube (I see the option was removed)?

Thanks,
A440hz

There is no Pandora module on R20 (not non of XtrAIOS IIRC), its shoutcast.
flv should be played locally without a problem, YT-SD module was removed because its no longer supported by google API, but there is the YT-XL module which is HTML5 based and works fine for both SD and HD YT contents.

Glow in the dark buttons, and WAY BETTER button placement.
Pivos will start an replacement initiative soon where customers only pay for shipping and handling to replace their "non-defective" old remotes (only one free replacement per box is allowed though).

Which remote is the new one?

If you haven't jumped yet, the MIR was bumped to $30 for all August purchases.
Thanks. Hey, how come amazon is not eligible for the rebate? Just curious as I prefer newegg anyway but then there's the thing with the remote
and you said amazon was more likely to have the new remote.
