I think some of it is also a matter of what is presented to consumers. The pro-audio solutions have seemed to always remain dedicated to the realm of studios, with only a few exceptions. The "soundbar" and other "lifestyle products" are definitely much more aesthetically pleasing, and fit into the home better.
And the level of profit margins between these two seem to be quite different, where the gap between the cost of parts and the MSRP becomes exceedingly high on the consumer side.
