Only time I would do hurricane is if you couldnt access the mounting very well, i.e. the f-20, otherwise ive never used anything other than screws. Think about even the ultra, with 100 pounds, the weight is split among 8 screws, thats a piece of cake

If you could find someone in Omaha with a CNC, 03roadking could possibly design the enclosure with SDS/2 which looks far superior to AutoCAD. He could save it and then have the appropriate file to send it to the person with the CNC. I saw that someone may take your F20 enclosures and I think 03roadking is interested in the MFWs.

You should build the enclosures this week and use a jigsaw to cut the hole so I can hear one of these when I will be up in omaha friday night for state wrestling semifinals.

Ohh I hate hurricane nuts! blah!!! Just good wood screws is all you need. If your worried about them coming loose or something, just add 2" blocks of ply to where you will be screwing (lol) for some more bite. With ply though, they are not gonna back out.

Placed the order with eD today. 4 single driver enclosures.

Going with 20" cubes, 1" EFS, double baffled, internal bracing, roundovers on the non driver face edges (like eric's LMS build by eD), magnetic grills, and feet. I wasn't going to go with the feet initially but thinking down the road to stacking behind an AT screen could be useful.

Painting them the textured black for less reflection vs the satin black.

Should be 3.0 cu ft even for each box.

Three weeks or so until I go pick them up.

The driver that was damaged in shipping has returned from Mark@IST. Looks like it made the return trip fine....cone moves freely and no contact heard or felt.

Will let it warm up and maybe do a free air test sometime.

Yeah, I almost PM'd you. I went with Elemental Designs to do the cabinets, following diamonddelts and edgrocc and others for this.

I asked Alex if they were still going to have my cabinets done by March 9 as I ordered them and expected them....still haven't heard confirmation. They better be done by the wednesday following for sure, because stormwind is buying my F20s and is driving through on the way to Omaha for work/F20s...he offered to pick them up for me. Thanks Dustin.

Regarding polyfill in the sub cabinets (20 inch cubes)....how much and what type...? I've seen things from WalMart pillows to this nice stuff desertdome had in the MFW-15 Dual Opposed. Threads to check out?

I'm also going to purchase a ECM8000 from CSL or Desertdome/Ricci...and probably a Tascam. Any other recommendations for measuring gear in that price range? (Will use J River and REW for EQ)

Hey Greg,

I used the WalMart pillow solution with my EDs and couldn't be happier. They were $2.50 each if I recall and it was like having polyfill in a loose bag that breathes quite easily. It elimiates any worries about any fill coming loose and contacting anything moving on the driver. These pillows are so "pourous" that you'd likely need 3 of them to get enough firmness if you actually wanted to use them to sleep.

I wonder how much I'll actually be able to stuff into these cabs anyways. 20x20x20 isn't going to be that big!

My boxes are a tad larger at roughly 12.5 cubic feet each. The exterior dimensions are roughly 30x40x24 and I have 8 pillows in each one and they're not packed in tight at all. At 20x20x20 I'm guessing you could get 1-2 in there.

Consider yourself invited. Sounds great so far. Gobs of untapped potential. Having resonances all over the room is annoying though.....turning it past reference has the can lights vibrating something fierce.

I think we need to patent the zip tie method of inserting heavy drivers into cabinets.

On another note, the sub sounds good so far- seems like we were pushing it to about 40-50% of it's capability. Greg is being cautious which it probably the best path to take considering the money he has into all of this. Once the other ones are in I will have to swing in again and have a listen.

On another separate note, we had a very interesting time trying to fit 2 cinema f-20's in my enclosed trailer. After about 45 mins of struggling we finally gave up and put one in the truck and one in the trailer. Stupid lawn tractor taking up all the room in there!
