Anyway I'd love to have Sowk and Milwaukeesk over for a calibration/visit/hangout.
I still have all of the same gear from my post #61

Well have to plan probably early next year some time. Have a lot going on in DEC.

Hi TedO,

You are correct.

I installed color changing LED strips in the soffit. This allows me to select the color of the uplighting in the soffit.

I didn't feel like investing the time or money into a fiber optic ceiling, so I commissioned NightSkyMurals (on the AVSForum) to paint the stars on the ceiling. This required no work on my part, and it's completed in one day instead of over the course of weeks.
Plus you end up with many more stars than the fiber optics installs do. Both types of star ceilings have their advantages.

There are eight 4' black lights in the soffit to charge the painted star ceiling.

I just picked up a Panamorph lens off of eBay, it was a c stock lens but the price was right. I'm only in the plumbing and electrical stage so it will be awhile until I can play with it. Now I just have to figure out how I want to mount it to the projector. I do plan to leave it in place all the time and just change the settings on the Sony to switch formats.

Thanks SOWK,

I have a Runco Q750i on a 110" Da-lite HP2.8. Everything else is Anthem and Paradigm with a couple JL 113's and a Oppo 103, PS3 and DirecTv.

@agrsiv95... You ever get the Runco Q750i Calibrated? I know you were looking a while ago.

@TedO... You find a way to mount the lens?
Hope to towards the end of March. Awesome job on the time lapse of your setup btw...

Agrsiv95 have any pics?
Just the screen shots I put in the other thread. I will get some of the room up soon.
I'm going to have a custom mounting plate made from aluminum. I planned to leave the lens in place all the time and adjust the picture with the size with the projector squeeze.

TedO. Sounds great if a majority of material is going to be 2:35.1 anyhow.

Are you going to get a lumagen to scale the pic to 2:35.1? Or just use the internal Sony scaling?

I'm going to use the projector to scale for now and see how that works. Spending money like mad ay this point with the ht build so I need to let the dust settle a little.

I'm half way through the electrical but still haven't decided on how I'm going to do the ceiling.

Hey all. I've been out of the loop for awhile and now everything I'm reading points to the Darblet. Curious what you guys think. It looks like a few of you have either tried it, or own one. Is this the wonder drug i'm missing?

Nice to hear from you again. smile.gif

About your Darblet Question:

Very well may be. I love mine.
With the right settings it adds a lot.

How's your Calibration still?

Still enjoying the picture?

You'll need to stop by to finally hear my setup... smile.gif

Damn you SOWK... now I need to go blow $300. Now I remember why I quit spending time on this site. It costs me too much money.
I recently bought one and am now a believer. I'd highly recommend one.

The calibration is still good. I'm sure it could use some adjustments as the bulb has definitely dimmed some, but not enough to go crazy at this point. All things considered, I love the picture and continue to be impressed.

Agreed, I need to come check out your set up. let's find time soon.

No problem... Invite some members over if you want.

Any Near Milwaukee Area Theater Lover is welcome.

It would make more sense if they owned a projector though.

Got to thinking about updating my subs...

I currently have two Vandersteen V2W's (3 active 8" woofers and 1 passive 12" radiator: each)

I love the sound and bass they provide (flat to below 20htz), but at 4400 cubic feet they can not provide the "hit" you in the chest feeling I am after.

Was thinking of 2 Seaton Submersives, or 2 JTR Captivators...

What would the thread members recommend?

There's a good comparison with impressions & measurements here:

JTR Captivator Pro Pair - peak SPL recorded - 123.3dB:

Seaton Submersive HP Pair - peak SPL recorded - 118.3dB:

I am still thinking 2 X Submersives. The reviews on this forum for them are out of this world. I am possibly going to audition some JL's Fathoms 113 this weekend, but fear they are out of my price range.

What do you Thnk TedO??? More BASS!!! smile.gif

Seaton is located close by, so would be nice to have his local input and even visit to help optimize.
I've seen heard Seaton gear and it is amazing at AVS funlvr1965's place.
I haven't heard the Captivators.

Mike
