Type of paint for painting in wall speaker panel/grill

You will thank yourself if you can find a can of spray paint in a matching color. Trying to use a latex wall paint will be frustrating and may clog the holes.

I have to do the same thing this week, here are the instructions with my speakers.

Basically suggests a cheap spray gun and if it's latex paint then thin the paint, one part water to one part paint so it won't clog the holes.

If you do use latex, get the variety known as 'DTM' (Direct to Metal).

That thread from remotecentral has some details on a disposable sprayer from Home Depot, the Preval Sprayer.

Looks pretty awesome, and I will try it if the time comes. I'm looking at some 'narrow bezel' speakers, so I may not paint.

I used a Preval sprayer and some thinned down leftover wall paint to paint my grills. Do multiple thin coats and you won't clog the holes in the grill. Matches perfectly and looks great.

I recently bought Polk Vanishing Series speakers and have been researching ways to paint the grills. There are a lot of great suggestions in AVS threads.

The guy at my local paint shop mentioned Preval but said to be very careful as the risk if sputtering & drips is high.

I am going to give these folks (below) a try as it feels like the easiest way to go for my Left, Right, Centers to be the same as our wall color. This outfit has a big database of the major vendor's colors so I was able to order an exact match for the Benjamin Moore color we are painting the room with. One can of spray paint on the way!

I did this as well recently. The preval sprayer is less than $10. They turned out really well. I think I have some pictures posted on my build.

An airbrush with thinned paint will also work. I chose to use mine instead of a my paint sprayer for faster clean up. Turned out just about perfect.
