Projector Protection --- Surge Suppressor / Conditioner

So... you get a nice PJ... How do you protect it?

Even if you have a nice power conditioner for your Receive and other equipment, the PJ is going to be too far away from that.

Do you get another power conditioner for the PJ?

Do you just put a surge suppressor on it?

Any sense having a battery backup (UPS) so the projector could "cool down" if the power goes off?

I appreciate any thoughts...

Handy if you live in an area like I do. I'm out in the boonies, so I get power brownouts and outages far more often than I'm comfortable with, so I have my projector (and other equipment) on a rather inexpensive UPS / conditioner.

I use this, Panamax MIW-POWER-PRO-PFP Power Outlet. So far I have no complaints.

I do have a UPS for two years now since I bought my PJ...allow to cool it down in case of power failure, not that I got any with the PJ on so far. Protect also from power fluctuations. I try connecting as much eqp as possible, good safeguard if they are out of warranty....since you don't have that to back you up...

I'm having my basement theater room finished. I asked the contractor, who said he would hardwire the outlet that the projector is plugged in to another outlet behind the conditioner/battery backup.

There are a number of existing threads on the topic. Here's one that came up using advance search, title search only and "surge" as my search word:

This is also a common topic in the other projector's forum and the HT construction forum. Use ...surge, UPS, protection, conditioner etc.

Question about power conditioners/protectors: Some of them have a cable in/out in the back..Does it really make a difference in your cable signal to have it go in and out of these power centers? thanks in advance..

That's what I had done.
Ran a 20A 3 conductor dry pair from the projector outlet to an outlet by the AV equipment.
From the UPS, I run a male to male AC cord to the outlet to the projector.

My power path is:

AC -> surge protector -> power conditioner -> UPS -> equipment
*Subwoofer has its own surge/power conditioner and power circuit but no UPS.

All power circuits are 20A.
