Dying disk replacement suggestions?

My iTunes disk is almost dead -- moral of story here -- run SMART Utility proactively -- don't wait until things are very wrong to figure out what's what.

Disk Utility is useless -- verification tells me that the disk is fine.

the nearly dead disk is a 3TB WD Caviar Green -- I need to replace it with another 3TB drive. I am looking, above all for reliability. With the Thailand floods, things are bad in the HD market...

Basic choices seem to be sticking with the same or getting a Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM001 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive or a HITACHI Deskstar 0S03230 3TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive.
Price wise the WD is the cheapest (double + the price of a couple of months ago), the Seagate $40 more, Hitachi in between.

Any words of wisdom welcome.

Hopefully you have a good back up.
Assuming so, return the WD for warranty replacement.
I don't know if any of those disks are more reliable than the others. Disks die.

I'll get the warranty replacement of course, but I need something I can use immediately, and my backup disk isn't suitable (it is in an external USB 2.0 enclosure).

Backup -- could be better, could be much worse -- the last full backup is from 2.5 months ago, which in my scheme of things is pretty good. Worse case I'll lose a few podcast episodes, a couple of TV shows* and have to re-import some CDs. The thing I'm losing the most of is time and enjoyment of my home theater until everything is fixed...

*Did Apple allow you to re-download TV the way it does with music these days?
