Acer AM3910-UR30P (PT.SDXP2.001) Desktop PC Intel Core i3 540(3.06GHz) 2GB DDR3 500GB HDD Capacity Intel HD Graphics Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Or
Acer AX1930-UR10P (PT.SGAP2.003) Desktop PC Intel Core i3 2120(3.30GHz) 4GB DDR3 500GB HDD Capacity Intel HD Graphics Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Granted they may need a tuner card, blu ray combo optical, and a storage drive but what is the Hive mind's opinion of these machines as HTPCs if Case wasn't an issue? Any experience with these builds?

Answer is you don't have to build. You need to know what you want it to do and if a product is out there that meats or beats those want's and is at a good price then buy it.

"Is at a good price" seems to be a big issue here. How much is it going to cost after adding the blu ray and storage drive? And why would anyone pay nearly $400 today for a Clarkdale system?

At least the 2nd one looks more reasonable, but I'm still not convinced it's a bargain.

EDIT: BTW, if you're really convinced you want to buy an econobox rather than building your own, this looks like a better buy:
