OEM versus name brand replacement lamps

Has anyone compared an OEM bulb to a name brand? Or, does anyone have any thoughts or info on the subject? Trying to save a buck!

The general consensus is that you get what you pay for when it comes to lamps.

I have bought a cheapo lamp in the past and won't do it again, but I have also bought an OEM bulb in non-OEM housing and it lasted much longer. Having said that, the longest lasting lamp was the one I bought that was 100% produced by the original manufacturer (big shock, right!).

What projector are you looking to put a new lamp into?

Thanks for your comment. Its an epson 8500ub. The bulb is an OEM equivalent or so the amazon add says...

equivalent = Compatible = not OEM, right? some seller say 100% OEM Compatible, even it's 100000% OEM Compatible, it's still not OEM. LOL
