For $250 and under you will not find a smaller subwoofer with equal performance.

I suggest you go through her closet and remove all the handbags and shoes she doesn't use. And question why she is on your tail when you have something you will be using alot more than she ever used the handbags and shoes. And if your really cruel add up how much money she spent.

At first the subwoofer seems large but over time when it blends in with the room it will not seem that large

Return the wife. Maybe some bass shakers are in store for your couch shaking if you want to keep her, but it's a relatively small sub (she'd hate mine).

Show her this picture with the Outlaw LFM-1 EX in a stereo setup. Tell her that's the right size for your stereo, but that you already compromised and got the smallest one you could. Then offer to work towards upgrading whatever it is she's been wanting to replace in the room where the PSW505 is

Play her favorite song than turned off the sub halfway

I always find these posts both funny and pathetic. Does the wife have a china hutch or side board? These are MUCH larger than a sub and infinitely less useful. Come on guys, it's time to take some of the house back as your own.

How much smaller? The OSD PS12 and the Pinnacle PS Sub 225 are incrementally smaller, and good values (especially the Pinnacle), but they may not meet her criteria.

If that's the case then I'm with the others; time to trade in the wife for a more reasonable model.

After 30+ years of marriage, I know compromise. This sounds like capitulation. That will eventually lead to resentment. You are correct that the PSW505 is about the smallest 12" ported sub you can get. Just stand your ground. Or, trade it in for something even bigger and louder (the sub, not the wife).

The bigger the sub the more it makes the wife look dainty and feminine.

Two suggestions:

• Tell her you're more than happy to buy a Paradigm Seismic 110 if she'll pay for the difference.
• Print out a Prada logo and stick it in front of the Polk.

More reason to build a dedicated room. I've actually gotten away from having anything visible in the living room myself. We have a 50" plasma and a HTIB, and *gasp*, the speakers are behind books and pictures in the built in, and the sub is inside a cabinet.

Now the dedicated room is another story completely. I could put a 5 foot ^3 subwoofer down there, and the wife wouldn't care a hoot.

Awesome. I can't wait to get my RC-50s and RC-LCR. I saw your picture previously on head-fi, I think. It was one of things that convinced me

One thing you might like that I'm going to try. I had my TV on top of my old center channel, too. I just got this stand in from Amazon. Looks like the RC-LCR will just fit inside of it (by about half an inch of clearance in width and height). If you are interested, PM me in a week or so and I can let you know if it worked.

Cool. Will do. I've been meaning to get a new tv stand or something so I don't have to have my display on top of my speaker, and that product looks like it should work. I'll let you try it first though
