Denon 4311CI @ EE for $1329.99 - Page 3

I just ordered this receiver from Audioholics for $1299 shipped and no tax. They currently don't have it in stock but they have a couple on order from Denon (that Denon confirmed on the 14th). I talked to Will and he was very helpful and offered it to me at that price right off the bat with no haggling or request for price matching. He said they should have it by the middle of this week and would send it right out to me by FedEx as soon as it arrived.

As an update for anyone else that might be looking to get this deal, I called six different authorized dealers and here's what I was offered (and these were all for brand new factory sealed units):

• Electronics Expo - This was my first call. I talked to Jason x152 (Dave and John apparently were away from their phones). He was very friendly and offered me the unit for $1299.99 shipped immediately but they would have to collect tax for my state, at 9.25% that's a pretty good chunk of change. It came out to $1420 and some change, he came back and dropped it to $1398.14 but that was the best he could do. If it wasn't for the tax I would have bought it right then.
  
• Audioholics - Will offered it to me for $1299 shipped but it was on backorder and not in stock so I told him I'd call back and let him know and called around some more.
  
• World Wide Stereo - The very best I could get them down to was $1599 even after mentioning that someone on here had purchased it for $1249. I tried to get them to price match EE and Audioholics and they said they were sorry but there's no way.
  
• B&H - $2099, would not come down one cent and would not price match since they would only go by the listed online price. I've bought from them before and they ship fast so I thought I'd give 'em a shot.
  
• Abt - Talked to Jarrett, was very nice but could not price match. He came down to $1599 but said that was the best he could do.
  
• oneCALL - First they said $1999, then they came down to ~$1500. I asked about pricematching EE and Audioholics and they said no way.

Looks like EE and Audioholics are currently your best bet for the lowest price on a new unit.

For a while I had a virtual Visa with an american address, that might work. They charged 4.95% on the transaction, but that would be like $65 on a $1300 purchase, not a big deal. Still way cheaper than buying in Canada.

Did Audioholics have any idea when they might get them in?

He said they should recieve them in their warehouse by the middle of this week. They placed their order with Denon last week and he said they confirmed it on the 14th. I really wanted to have it by Saturday but I'm guessing it will probably be at the beginning of next week before I get it.

Just got email confirmation that my 4311 has shipped!

Received it today, not bad since I just ordered it Monday and it was out of stock at the time.

I hate to say this, but I just bought this at Vanns (authorized Denon dealer) for $799 shipped.

Cool, great deal! Too bad they're out of stock there now. I may call Audioholics and see if they'll price match.

I just recieved mine today from Audioholics for $1299 shipped. It shows no longer available on Vann's site now although I did manage to get it into my cart before they took it off. I just haven't completed checkout yet. I wish sales was still open at Audioholics, they just work M-F from 8-5. Not sure what to do now, $500 is a lot of money.

I couldn't resist, I went ahead and bought the one from Vann's for $799. I'll call Audioholics Monday morning to see if they'll price match the one I just received today. Either I'll be sending it back to Audioholics or calling to cancel the Vann's order depending on what they say.

I'll be buying 4311, was just correcting what I thought was a lead for the 4311 at that price

I am really interested in the 4311 mainly due to multiEQ XT32 and decent amplifier section. I'll be using it to drive my 4 ohm floor standers. With the new 4311 replacement coming in another couple of months, i'm hoping the price will drop further. $1k is my mental block .. can't justify spending more than this on a single AV component.

I believe the general consensus is that a replacement for the 4311 will NOT be coming out in "a couple months". I also believe that Denon is able to manage their inventory of 4311s via retainers; some selling at, or close to, MSRP and those that discount significantly. Units seem to have been purchased at, or sub, $1300 recently. The elasticity of demand is unknown, but at $1200 my guess is many currently on the fence will jump on the opportunity, and even more at $1100. My guess is you will never see $1000 for 4311.

The $1299 deal was the best I could get. Well worth every penny of it I believe after I got it all set up this weekend.

Not as good as the $799 deal I thought I was going to get, but I'm happy.

All depends on the inventory left on hand if/when the replacement model is released. The 4310CI was HEAVILY discounted a year or so ago and people went wild. I was late to the party so it took me almost 3 hours to find one, but even tho it was in another state, it was where I had family that lives to go get it for me because the BB stores themselves do not ship. And it was discounted even further because it was a floor/demo model!

So, the point of this post is to say do not give up hope yet, but even at $1200, personally, (even tho I could never afford to do it) it is worth EVERY PENNY! A year and a half later and EVERY TIME I turn my 4310CI on, I get the biggest grin...

Yeah, I think Splicer and I and many others were fighting over the closeout Denon AVR's from Best Buy! They were discounting them like 65-75% msrp. One guy near us from this forum bought more than one and then offered to sell one to me. (I forget my reasons for not biting on that one he offered. I think price was the main reason...well that and the fact that I was over it!)

I tried my ass off to get in on those deals...to no avail. It was one of my most painful shopping experiences ever. It will not happen again. All the Best Buy's I dealt with were extremely rude, except for one, maybe two guys. I called a bunch of them and drove to several, only to be damn near made fun of. I was just trying to get in on those deals like I had read about. No dice.

Terrible experience. Doubt I will ever come close to playing that game with another electronics store, let alone BB. The time wasted was stupid. Although my wife and I had some nice laughs and a couple good meals. Sitting at home, researching and finally purchasing is the way to go, since these local places will not even pricematch an online vendor. Oh but BB told me they would do 10% off on the 3311 last Febuary bringing the total before tax to like $1200 I think it was. I was like, "but I can buy that brand new online for $750." And they were like, "So."

Oh well guess it worked out for Splicer though. Ended up a dumb experience for me, but now I know what I will do next time.
