What do you mean by "subs crossed over at 80Hz"? If you are talking about the 'LPF of LFE' setting, that is completely different from "subs crossed over at 80Hz". Some ONKYOs default that setting to 80Hz. And Audyssey doesn't set that setting. There is no good reason it shouldn't be set to 120Hz as the LFE channel can contain info as high as 120Hz.
And if the 'LPF of LFE' is the setting you are describing, it is completely irrelevant to what bass from the front channels is routed to the front speakers regardless of whether they are set to full-range or have a crossover applied. And if your front speakers are set to full-range, the sub isn't receiving any bass when listening to 2-channel sources unless you are using the 'double bass' setting, too.
