New Plasma This Weekend

Hello AV Forums!

My wife just approved me to buy a new Plasma. At the moment I have an LG 42" LCD. I am happy with it, but I would love a brighter TV with better Blacks.

I went to best buy and picked out 2 TVs due to looks, and price.

LG - 50PV400
Samsung - PN51D530A3 (leaning towards...)

I know a lot of people say the Panasonic S30... but I can't preview it... I would just have to buy it... =/

Any advice would be great. This will be used mostly for Blurays, DVDS, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Personally, I'm not a fan of any of those models. How much are you looking to spend?

samsung PN59D550 . You can find it on sale sometimes. I got it for 1100 before taxes

you can find the 51D550 for 700-900 usually

Hey

i'm probably the last one to offer any advice but I spent this past week reseaching and looking till I'm blue in the face. My budget is a bit more which leaves a little more wiggle room. But in your case the two models not on your list and are worth a look...

Samsung : PN51D550C1
Panasonic TC-P50ST30


...maybe a few dollars more but well worth it.

The Panasonic S30, Samsung 530, and LG PV400; all have poor contrast. I simply could not recommend them. For good contrast I would have to recommend a Panasonic ST30, or Samsung 6500. You could go with a Samsung 550, but to me the performance in contrast isn't good enough. Make sure you shop around.

DR.DTS, the ST30 is a great performer. I think you would be happy with that purchase.
