Samsung D series FBr fix discussion - Page 28

post #811 of 1596
I got my stick in the mail 2 days ago but haven't gotten around to messing with it. I pray it works so I don't have to manipulate a bunch of German code.

These threads always make me feel dumb.

Anyway, rented Hugo blu ray, so fingers crossed for "optimization."

We have optimization!

The screen when no sources are turned on is now pink. Weird.

I will now watch a movie.

At my wits end. calling amazon tomorrow to return. ABL is killing this set even after logic board update.

I brought up the forums and they still stuck to the story of no USB sticks.

What firmware version do you have currently?

During hockey or during other content?

I only ever notice the ABL during hockey games and nobody else seems to notice - seems that I only notice when I'm looking for it.

All content. I don't know if it's just my set or not it's just unacceptable.

I'd exchange it unless you are dead set on getting another TV.

The ABL on my set only occurs during hockey when panning to either end of the arena and that is just a problem with the technology (although Samsung could implement it better and keep it from being quite as drastic). After applying the FBr fix my set has been incredible.

I haven't gone back to read through your other posts - are you sure that your logic board updated?
post #819 of 1596
Avid i'm on 1015, but applied fix thanks to you guys.
I own a d7000
I didn't get optimization screen, but I don't see the pops anymore.
post #820 of 1596
Ok, I think it's been established that Samsung has no repair path for D7000 people in your situation, i.e., those who require a downgrade from 1015 so that they can install the 1014.6 fix. As zoyd suggested, they should be able to send a tech to apply the logic upgrade, but I haven't found anyone reporting a fix after a service call.

I been trying to have samsung send out a service tech for the last month, I had 5 live chats with them and 4 phone conversations about the brightness pops and can't get anywhere with them. I'm sick of being told that a service tech will contact me within 24-48 hrs and nothing happens. I'm really disappointed with their customer service. I tried the logic board update but am having trouble with the emulator due to the fact I have a MAC, and am not computer literate. I figured I would have them come out and swap the logic board for the updated one . I'm beyond frustrated I want to love this tv but having my doubts.

Just got a PN51D6500 delivered from Beach Camera off Amazon
The firmware is 1015 and the logic board shows 11-10-31.
Wonder if they are shipping it fixed now - haven't noticed FBr yet, but also haven't been testing for it either.
post #823 of 1596
No need to wonder, if you check zoyd's first post you clearly have the new logic firmware already installed:

PN51D6500: 11-10-31
PN59D6500: 11-11-04
PN64D6500: 11-11-04

But, I wouldn't assume that all TVs still shipping have been upgraded, there must still be a chance you will get the old version.
post #824 of 1596
hi, can someone point me to the "how to" for installing the 1024.8 upgrade in the first post, step 1? I downloaded it to a usb, but the tv doesn't recognize it. i tried downloading directly from the using the browser, but the tv didn't recognize it. maybe i'm missing something because i only saw a step-by-step for step 2. i'm surprsed there are no directions. any help is appreciated. i have a 59d8000 with 1023 fw and the brightness popping is really getting annoying.

There are directions for USB firmware uploads if you search but I'll add the following to first post:

1. Unpack/unzip firmware and place the image folder on your USB stick in a folder named T-GAPxxxxx

xxxxx=8AKUC (D8000)
xxxxx=5AUSC (D6500,D6900,D7000)
xxxxx=4AUSC (D550)

2. On TV hit menu->support->software upgrade->by usb

Outstanding! Thanks for the quick reply. I did it and it worked perfectly, got the "optimization" note and checked that the version is 11-11-04. I will verify tonight once it gets dark that the pops are gone. Thanks so much for all the help and posting the download instructions

Will there be a Europe version for D7000 (T-MST5DEUC-1019.4)?
post #830 of 1596
this is really annoying, i connected my tv to the router and started up rusamsung tvcommunicator and when a pop up on the screen asked if i wanted to allow this external remote control ofmy tv, i accidentally said no. now ru samsung tvcommunicator can't even connect to my tv.

now what can i do?

edit, found the remote section in the tvs settings, deleted and re unzipped the ru communicator and its connected again, fingers crossed now

edit2: so i had the filename logic.bin with the extra bin extension that i couldn't see, thx windows. so i removed it, went for the upgrade, it said upgrading, but for literally 7 minutes, then it went back to the main service menu. i turned the tv on and off , hit mute 737 enter and now my logicsw version is 11-11-12. it was 11-06-17 before, so i think it worked. will report back if i have any issue, but for now thanks zoyd and everyone else.

my model number is ps51d550c1n , my panel was df.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Samsung is no longer sending USB fixes for D7000 users?

I haven't updated my D7000 yet, but if they aren't sending updates anymore I'm gonna have to jump on updating ASAP

.....not too thrilled about going through the downgrade/communicator/upgrade process
post #832 of 1596
Samsung has never sent USB fixes to D7000 owners with 1015 firmware because this requires a downgrade that they never released. Your only option is to use the service remote emulator to manually upgrade the logic board.

I don't know where you got the idea of a "downgrade/communicator/upgrade process", if you read the first post carefully you should understand there is no "downgrading" involved.
post #833 of 1596
Will this affect future updates to the tv? Like on a phone if you install an update that isn't on the update path even if it's from the manufacturer you won't be able to perform future factory updates. It does a self check and sees not everything is there that it wants to see and then cancels out.

I just received my USB stick in the mail from Samsung. I have a 59D7000 and have firmware 1014. The pops have been killing me so I was glad to receive it today. When I tried the update, I received a message that stated "No file available to upgrade".

Does this make sense? Is it possible that Samsung sent me the wrong USB stick? The USB is not labeled. Shouldn't I get some other type of message such as "no update available" or anything that would show that the update at least worked. I'm a novice at this type of thing but figured I'd give it a try based on what I've read here.

It just seems to me that the "no file available" message would mean the TV is not reading the USB. Is that correct?

Can anyone explain why I would get this message?

Any help is appreciated.

Gary,

In order to understand what happened, we need more information. What is the presently installed firmware version on your TV? Check the Menu > Support > Contact Samsung item to get this. What is the version on the stick that was sent to you? Put the stick in your computer and note the folder or file name.

Hello there,

I live in Sweden as bought a PS64D8005 a month back and have recently starting to notice alot of these brightness pops and it's driving me nuts.

As I see alot of people with the 64" D8000 plasma successfully fixed this problem with the "Logic Board Update Method" I am still not 100% sure if I should do it cause I'm afraid something might break and make the TV useless...

Anyways, what I was wondering, and would be happy to have awensered by you experts, is:

1. The PS64D8005 is just a Swedish name for the PN64D8000 right?
2. My firmware says 1021.2 (latest fw says tv and latest on samsung eu homepage) and when i go into the service menu (the mute-7-3-7-enter menu) it says panel version/type: ds, logich sw v. 11-06-07 / checksum 0x2E12. Which file should I use, 64DS_ITO_Deepblack.bin or 64DS_ITOless_DeepBlack.bin?
3. I can't run the 1024.8 FW update because it's US only right?

Sorry if this have been asked before, don't want anything to go wrong.

Thanks for all the help in advance.

1. Yes (I have the very same model)
2. One can only tell which version to use by testing, i.e you have to test with ITO first and then ITOless. The TV will complain that the file is not compatible if it's for the wrong version (my set was ITO). It's not possible to install the wrong version.
3. Yes, the US and the EU have completely different FWs so either download the latest from www.samsung.se or use the online method from the menu on the set to upgrade to the latest EU FW.

Okay thanks. Did you also have problem with FBr? Did it went away after?
