46" Samsung Won't turn on

So tonight, after I got home from work, I tried to turn on my Samsung 46" Inch lcd (ln46b640). The red light was on when I hit the power on my remote. I left the room before the TV powered on, and when I returned I noticed the TV never powered up. No red light, no glow, no noise, nothing. I tried changing outlets, changing plugs on the power strip, using no power strip, leaving it unplugged for a bit, and changing the remote batteries. I get nothing. I'm super bummed because I just bought a new PC and can't really afford a new TV, and its only been a month since my Best Buy Protection expired. Any idea what might be causing the issue? I didn't see any leaking capacitors when I opened the back up.

Do you think its an expensive fix? Is so, would it be better for me to just buy a new one (although I'm still making payments on this one...sadly)?

I appreciate any help you guys can offer...I'm pulling my hair out here.

IIRC failure to turn on is usually but not necessarily caused by capacitator failure.

Call Samsung support. Several folks on this site have reported that Samsung is making certain repairs for free even though the sets are out of warranty. Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.

i just had the same problem my capasitors were blown out my tv is 5 years old and samsug said that they will relplace it for free and they did now the tv works just like it did when it came out of the box 5 years ago ,samsung get 5 stars for there hard work if u ask me .

Don't give them too much credit, for putting bad capacitors into their sets in the first place. They're just probably trying to avoid some type of class action suit and bad publicity, since we have some new posting about broken Samsung here just about every day (actually 2 in last few hours alone). It's nice they're doing it, but all it is post fact damage control.
I would give them 5 stars if the TV's were working for 10-20 yrs without any problem, as expected. I'm sure many people are not aware of Samsung repairing the sets for free and they either pay for repairs or buy new TV's. Also bad capacitors can damage other boards inside TV and Samsung won't cover that either.
