Xbox vs PS3 Netflix Instant Streaming Content Choices

A friend of mine has a PS3 with a netflix account and I noticed that the PS3 had more instant streaming titles available on their platform than the Xbox. Has anyone come across any information about this? Just confused as to why PS3 would have more titles available. Sony Pictures? Although the specific content I was watching on the PS3 wasn't endorsed by Sony Pictures.

Hmm, I think you could be on to something with the Sony Pictures thing.

Was it Columbia TriStar? Here is a complete list -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Pi...st_of_holdings

The show I was watching was "When We Left Earth" - a documentary about NASA. Discovery Channel initially aired the episodes. I don't think Sony has any ownership of Discovery Channel. I bet that if someone were to browse through the Xbox and PS3 netflix libraries, the PS3 would have more content, which is not fair.

I'm pretty sure the available titles are the same on every platform.

Yeah I very much doubt there is any difference in available content. The only difference being how they are displayed. They do have different menus and the catagories seem to be adaptive based on your viewing history. Think of it this way you can put any title into your instant queue and have it available on either platform.

They have the same content, it's just the PS3 has more titles that show up in the menus. If you searched manually on the xbox you could find the same shows. The PS3 is 10 times better than xbox when it comes to the apps for Hulu and Netflix.

For instance when you look at horror, on xbox it just shows the most popular, on the PS3 it shows all of those plus it breaks it down into different horror genres.

I can confirm this as I have both a PS3 and XBOX that I use regularly for viewing this content.

Maybe my search skills weren't able to find this hidden tv series, either way I didn't want to believe Xbox's netflix service was inferior in any way. Ironically, I haven't been able to look for it again because my Xbox is giving the red ring of death, for the second time.
