I was sampling soundbars in general this past weekend and everyone of them seems to have a very narrow soundfield..vertically for sure and in some cases horizontally.
The display (Best Buy) had each model on a shelf...all lower than head high. When I started sampling them, they all sounded pretty crappy. It wasn't until I bent over to adjust a sub woofer for one of them did I notice that they actually sound pretty good, as long as you are in front of them.
Granted I was doing this relatively up close, within a foot or 2 of the speakers. But even backing up to 5/6 feet there was still a big difference in quality when I wasn't at eye-level with the soundbar.
Would that improve if I were farther back? My viewing distance is 10-11 feet. I would really like to have something to improve the TV audio without having to turn on my stereo every time I want to watch the thing.
